I guess that the distance selling rules don't apply here, as somewhere on their site they'll promise to start providing their "service" immediately. That would mean you can't sue them in the Small Claims Court.
Can anyone confirm this?
My niece, 17, was just caught by this one.
Threaten with small claims court.0 -
:j:j:j Just to let you all know - pester them - log on to their website and contact them - via IM if necessary. I got emails back saying they would refund AND THEY HAVE! Result - one happy lady.
Hope the rest of you get as lucky as me0 -
Not to be rude, but I looked at that site. It looks nothing like the DVLA site. On the homepage it tells you in 4 places that they are not connected to the DVLA AND it has a big redirect 'click here' button to take you to the actual DVLA site if you don't want to pay their fee.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -

The OFT have made it very clear in their guide to distance selling regulations that 'services' of the type offered by Caveat Viator Ltd cannot equate to the provision of a service. There is no service and therefore no legally binding contract to exempt themselves from. Lodge a small claims application and you will get your money back.
Have you got a link to this OFT ruling?0 -

Although I think CVL are down and out scammers, I agree with your comment. It is so obvious that the site is not the DVLA or belonging to any Government agency/department.
The people who are falling for these scam sites are probably the same people who end up with their card details being stolen online due to their computer being riddled with viruses and spyware etc.0 -
