  • Still no reply or refund :( 11 emails so far.
  • I got done by drivinglicense.co.uk, as did so many other people. I noticed it when I got a letter from them with my application and another request for £50. Until then I thought I was dealing with the DVLA. I did not use the form they sent and went to the DVLA straight instead to start a new application. It was within 7 days of my payment so I asked them for my money back several times. They refused.

I took them to the small claims court using the online money claim system and they paid straight away, the £50 plus the £25 fee of using money claim. So if you have been had, take action and they will back off and pay you back, at least if you realise early enough in the process.
  • Yeah I don't think simply sending emails does much to force these companies into a refund. As suggested above, either commence a small courts claim or write a letter before action stating that you will commence one if you do not receive a reply/refund within 24 hours. As I said, I did the latter and got my money back within 24 hours. It's all a game of cat and mouse and it's those too unaware or not proactive enough to escalate who's money they end up retaining.

What address did you use? I sent a email before action and they're ignoring me now :( I will print and send them a letter, just not sure which address to send it to.

I did because I thought I was on the DVLA website and ended up paying 2 payments of £24 and 1 payment of £1. I noticed today that they took the 2nd £24 payment yesterday so I contacted net-secure.co.uk, who were named on my bank statement as the ones who took the payment, by live chat to be told I had subscribed to receiving e-books, to which I replied that I hadn't subscribed to or agreed to receiving anything. Long story short, they agreed straight away to refund me £49 but after reading the other threads on here I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for it and am prepared to go further if I don't receive it. Net-secure.co.uk said it was in the terms and conditions on the driving-licence-application.co.uk website about paying a subscription for e-books but when I asked where I was told they were busy dealing with other customers so I waited and waited and then told them I was still waiting to then get a message to say "Harriet has left the chat". Whilst waiting for them to reply I checked the terms and conditions and found nothing about e-books/subscriptions.
I will report back on here as to whether I receive a refund or not.

I used 2 addresses as wasn't sure which one to use:

    TADSERVICES LIMITED
    UNIT 2 THE OLD STABLES
    WEST TISTED
    ALRESFORD
    HAMPSHIRE
    UNITED KINGDOM
    SO24 0HJ

    And:

Dunstable Road, Redbourn, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL3 7PR

I didn't actually even end up posting them as they refunded be before I had a chance. Just make sure you've outlined your reasons such as:
-The website is intentionally deceitful despite outlining that it is a checking service.
-They have failed to meet their refund within 72 hours claim
-Their claim of 24/7 email support is false as you haven't received replies since XX/XX/XX and if you'd known this would be the case you would never have gone ahead with the process as this aspect is important to you as a busy professional who requires to be able to contact them during the evening and weekend etc etc.

If still no reply, commence the claim or they will just think you're calling their bluff. I stated that I would commence the claim regardless if they didn't meet the deadline or the refund was anything but the full amount.

So, to sum up, this is an area where the public sector [DVLA] is more cost-effective than private enterprise .... better tell the politicians about this.

I too have recently made this mistake, I was in a rush like many others, something didn't seem right at the time because they didn't state the amount I was being charged but I was trying to do it between answering calls in a busy hospital blood bank (worrying I know, but I assure you my total concentration was on my work).

Anyway the transaction date was the 7th Feb, and I have only just found out what happened on receipt of my credit card statement today.

Is there a template letter what people are sending? Any ideas if it's worth contacting my credit card company for there help?

    Thanks in advance
