How about a party for her birthday?

It's what I usually do and you can make it cheap/expensive to suit budget.

I'm taking my daughter to a show for her birthday, but there are loads of things on at the moment for the summer schedule. If you're near London, the August kids go free for big London shows is currently running.

Also if she's starting secondary school in September, then how about a nice purse or a bag. And a lovely pen/stationary is always welcome for teenage girls.

I completely agree. But unfortunately I can't say no to her,
I have thought about a zoo keeper for a day experience? I think she would like that as part of her present

    Of course you can. NO.

A 3d tv are you kidding me?

What's next a trip on the Richard Branson space shuttle for her 18th?

So she throws a strop so what? If she does because she's really that ungrateful then it might make you realise how all of these presents are actually causing a problem & helping no one.
  • I think the sponsoring a child idea is fab. But I don't think she would. And as ungrateful as that may sound...everyone likes pressies to open... So I could kind of understand that disappointing her.

I do have a younger child, but for now she is happy with small inexpensive gifts..although yes I'm sure that will change

Zoo keeper experience seems to be the thing she wants ( asked her a few mins ago) as long as its accompanied by an iPhone :(

Se loves purses and bags and shoes...cupboards are bursting with them..so I could always buy her some more as little fillers.

    Thanks again.
Its all mind over matter. I don't mind and you don't matter:rotfl:

OP I think you,ll end up buying the iphone and everything else that you/she have suggested for her birthday, she,ll continue to strop and complain and this will never be resolved. good luck ~ i think you,re going to need it.

Fortunate - that said Ugg boots can be very expensive.
What do you do with her clothes and footwear when she grows out of them or gets tired of them?
I'm hoping you're going to say -sell them on eBay or similar to get some money towards the new stuff you buy her.

I ebay it, or give it to charity.
She's not one or selling her gadgets bough, I suggested we sell the blackberry to put towards the iPhone... But apparently you need a back up phone..and aren't I so stupid for not knowing that:embarasse
