But have you considered if people are actually already happy with the board the way it is? And may not want any more changes or more rules?

I may moan sometimes, but I actually find MSE comps forum very easy to use, understand, and move around - while knowing what and where I have entered too.

    x

Of course there are people who are happy as it is now, perhaps people are happy to put in the hours & effort of asking people to change titles, link comps to different sections.

But that should not stop people who do want change to ask for change.

Perhaps people who like the boards as they are now, once slightly different (after all we are not talking major changes) might like it better when they have tried it.

Change does not automatically mean bad, it just means different & hopefully better

    Edit:

I'm not sure what there is to not like about making the "guidelines" include adding additional info in the title to help people comp better I.E FB/TW/G+/Instragrame/RC. After all we are not re writing the whole thing

Well I do post some Social Media comps even though I don't enter the the comps myself and I suspect I would be much less likely to post them if I had to put a mix and match of
    " I.E FB/TW/G+/Instragrame/RC." after each comp.

Yes, but a number of us are in a "been there seen this discussion already"...

If BGs or MSE Towers wanted to change things, there have been many chances.

You may want to have a read through these thread, to see how things have been discussed and veto'd in the past. Some of which you are re-suggesting...

But then again, it took me a 4 years of constantly re-suggesting a Compers Chat Section, to finally get us a Compers Chat Corner, so never say never... (and does go to prove, I am not just living in the past, but that, I abide by the majority decisions made in the past)

    Competitions Time - what's happening.

Regular Competition Poll - Have your say (then forever hold your peace! :) )

Me, - I think people were scared of getting told off, and if they wanted to include it they would, but if they missed it out, then they weren't actually doing anything wrong, as long as the expiry date was there.

I just appreciate them posting comps, without needing to know every possible method of entry available, from reading the title.
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx

Is that because it would take you more time? What are you putting at the moment in the titles?

Yes as I have said many times, what's happened in the past does not predict the future.

It would be exactly how it is now, people would be directed to the new "guidelines" to show how to post a comp & asked to correct it. It would just mean that when I or any of the others ask people to change the title it's under the "guidelines"

"FB", "FB woobox", "Twitter" , "Effort" and sometimes "Email" if I remember, because I can't really see why "Email" is needed.

Yes, it would take me longer. There is also the problem of fitting the info into a limited number of characters allowed by the heading.

I understand your need for perfection/completion, Luckyone. I hope you understand that many people don't feel that need.

Lucky, no offence, but I think you are missing the point. This is not about holding back progress or living in the past. I'm say this wearing a onsie! I'm up with the latest fashion and trend - for the first time in thirty years!

The point is, as I see it anyway, that while it's good to debate and discuss anything, it is also good to give in gracefully sometimes when others see things differently.

Personally, I think the ethos of this forum, and indeed the whole site, is one of laid back, easy-going, tolerance. The rules here are minimal, and that's by design. I wouldn't want that aspect changed.

No problem with changing things, but I don't think what you are suggesting would actually be an improvement. It would perhaps make the forum more efficient in some aspects, but people will always find ways to get stuff wrong. I should know, I'm expert at it.

You can have all the rules you want. Point people in the right direction, whatever. You might even slightly improve the way it functions in some small ways. But it will also create other problems. More rules means having to address it when people break those rules.

I like the way it is now where people pretty much are encouraged to go ahead and post something, and then people like our Glad comes along and mops up afterwards - helped by the likes of you, me and so on. You can make the framework tight and perfect, but people will still step outside of that, and that will still need dealing with. Just like now. BUT it will also have changed the ethos (is that the right word?) of this site. I for one don't want more rules and restrictions. I get things wrong here enough without having more rules to screw up.

Personally, I think you should accept that what you have suggested isn't hitting the coconut here. It is good to debate things, but everything doesn't need to be a campaign. This is just a comping forum, not Amnesty International. What you see as living in the past, I just see as people seeing things differently to you.

That's fine. Obviously you would only put in what you could fit in the title. It could be (rafflecopter + Extra entries) because people know rc's have FB/TW/G+ options within that. I'm not saying every one in each comp :rotfl:

I'm saying adding into the "guidelines" to include social entries/rc's in the titles.

I came from typing in this thread & the first comp I looked at had Blog in the title & underneath that had a comment saying Rc please amend the title.
