Lucky, no offence, but I think you are missing the point. This is not about holding back progress or living in the past. I'm say this wearing a onsie! I'm up with the latest fashion and trend - for the first time in thirty years!
The point is, as I see it anyway, that while it's good to debate and discuss anything, it is also good to give in gracefully sometimes when others see things differently.
Personally, I think the ethos of this forum, and indeed the whole site, is one of laid back, easy-going, tolerance. The rules here are minimal, and that's by design. I wouldn't want that aspect changed.
No problem with changing things, but I don't think what you are suggesting would actually be an improvement. It would perhaps make the forum more efficient in some aspects, but people will always find ways to get stuff wrong. I should know, I'm expert at it.
You can have all the rules you want. Point people in the right direction, whatever. You might even slightly improve the way it functions in some small ways. But it will also create other problems. More rules means having to address it when people break those rules.
I like the way it is now where people pretty much are encouraged to go ahead and post something, and then people like our Glad comes along and mops up afterwards - helped by the likes of you, me and so on. You can make the framework tight and perfect, but people will still step outside of that, and that will still need dealing with. Just like now. BUT it will also have changed the ethos (is that the right word?) of this site. I for one don't want more rules and restrictions. I get things wrong here enough without having more rules to screw up.
Personally, I think you should accept that what you have suggested isn't hitting the coconut here. It is good to debate things, but everything doesn't need to be a campaign. This is just a comping forum, not Amnesty International. What you see as living in the past, I just see as people seeing things differently to you.

Thanks for your points Blu,
If you like it how it is now then brilliant . But that does not stop other people from having a different view, & surgesting a alternative. This Post Has Been Sponsored ByChocolate0 -
I think in fact that quite a few people are gently trying to suggest that if it is making you ill, then only you can control that, which may mean that you need to cut back on trying to help. Not that we want or need more rules or info in every title.
Everyone on comps board, fm's and BGs are only here to do what they are able to do, and are not expected to treat it as a full time job.
If the forum is not exactly how you would like it, and you are unable to ignore the mess you perceive because of your illnesses/issues ... Just hit the next page and go on. Or make a bookmark to arrive on page 2 or as an end date comper, then it hardly affects you. Sadly if you believe that Loquax works better for you, then so be it.
The BGs and fm's already do an amazing job, and I am very happy with things as they are, without loads of rules set in stone. I don't expect anyone to volunteer to independently review every thread posted, we are all a team and there is no I in team.
Just my humble point of view, xxMy light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly
Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx0 -
There are now so many possible entry methods that perhaps it is time to just remove them from titles this would help speed up posting times and remove any reason to bump posts about not including Twitter, facebook, inst..,pin...,rafflecopter, reg/login, e-mail, G+, aunt sallys letterbox etc.
Titles that don't include a date should be going to GO and not wasting anybodys time.0 -

Thanks.
I am trying different options to find a way to help myself on the comps board. I will keep trying :beer:This Post Has Been Sponsored ByChocolate0 -

I agree with no date go into GO :T
That would be interesting to see what people did if no one put what type of comp it is in the title, & not being allowed to bump to add what it isThis Post Has Been Sponsored ByChocolate0 -
I think more important things have arisen then getting worked up about incorrectly added competitions... for instance:Lucky, no offence, but I think you are missing the point. Yeah, my hublet tells me the same - and so does the mirror, but it's as close as I get to fashion, so there
Blu XI am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apology
THIS IS ME!

I understand what you are saying but what we don't want to happen is that we create so many "guidelines" that people are afraid to make a post then we will potentially loose great comps. I think the guidelines need to be simple and easy for new members to follow easily otherwise it can just cause more issues. I also think that it's a working progress and as already has been mentioned the comping forum has come along so much in the past few years and I'm sure things will keep improving in time but we have to be patient and keep working as a team.
