I am trying something different this week, see if it is easier for me. Will know by the end of the week.

Sounds like you may have worked out a new system to make it easier? The bookmarking system has worked for me and saves me a huge amount of time + I miss all the nonsense on page one of the forum.

I just wanted to come back & say Thank You for understanding what CFS/M.E does to someone. Only people who see others get to know about the pay back for doing something. I'm sorry OYL has it as well. I am very lucky as I can get out of bed, just not do much when up :rotfl:.

I'm just stubon which has helped me get through some tough things, but there are times when I know my stuboness goes against me too.

I do appreciate your time posting reply's to me I didn't want you to think I don't.

I think we have to be careful. Whenever we have kicked up a stink and asked to be treated differently from other boards, we have always been told that our comps board is a bonus and if we kicked up too much fuss, then it may be easier to close it/restrict it It took us years to get our precious compers chat corner

Many years ago, the comps forum was very chaotic, and in fact we had no end date on the majority of comps, yet we managed to comp - in fact many people won more then, lol. Then we self introduced (with our BGs helping) the Expiry date. Diva went through the entire board one night amending every thread to that format, and we have tried to follow it ever since.

Now we are asking people, not just to include expiry date, but to add lots more details, log in. reg, twitter, fb, blog, RC, etc... Most of this info I find out if its not there by a quick hover over the title. I comp and I am willing to help myself and don't expect every bit of info in the title - if its there then thats a bonus.

The buttons and method of displaying make things so much easier already, it just takes a little effort from ourselves

I have chronic pain and disability, the spoons/pacing myself gets me through the day

This is not the first time I have been told this.

BUT

We can't not do anything for the fear of being closed down. That's ridiculous. If MSE want's us gone it would do it weather we have a new BG or two or changing who does the daily's thread :rotfl:

Everything changes, life moves forwards & so should the comp boards. the reason why the daily's board needed to change is because more people are holding daily enter comps, what worked before didn't work now.

If MSE didn't want us here it would not include us in things like I've won big badge, it wouldn't have us featured in the news letter sometimes. And we most certainly would not be here now.

Do you think if MSE wanted us gone they would of done it by now?

Never live in the what "might" happen, live in the what is happening here & now.

Thats fine... But the comps board has not stayed stagnant, it has changed, and now even had forum specific buttons, ticks, crosses, etc created for our board.

But the only set in stone info I can find on what goes into a Title, is in the Please Read post, where all it says is....

6. Include the closing date in the title. Please include the closing date of the competition in the title of the thread you are starting. This way once it is closed it can be moved to the 'Game over' board

As I remember, when we were trying to pull together some more guidelines and create some rigid rules (with a lot of help from Glad), it nearly caused WW3 to break out on the board

Don't get me wrong, I apreciate a lot of work went into making the board as it is now. But you are still stuck in the past. That's gone. We need to work on the here & now.

I agree the rules need a over hall as well, for the same reason's I gave above. There are many more social website comps now & it is much easier to include FB/TW/Instragrame?G+/RC in the titles so people can click & enter or ignore.

The only way you could change the Comp guidelines not allowed to call them rules (which I don't understand why not, but probably a reason for it) is to get the board BG's & Andrea together & talk it through & set out the new "guidelines" which the whole forum abides with.

You can't ask on the board with so many people on to set the rules how on earth would the thousands of people all agree? they would not.

That's why we have Andrea & the forum team to help the BG's & us have a well run board.

Has anyone ever suggested this?

I see what you are saying Lucky and agree in an ideal world that's what we would have but it's difficult because the forum is free to use and the BGs are volunteers also and MSE isn't just a camping page it's got lots of other elements to it as well.

I think it works. I appreciate people have frustrations and I am always thankful to those who get merges, spot dupes, correct errors... but on the whole this board is fantastic and the BG's do an upstanding job.
Plus wouldn't you rather someone post an interesting comp and get the details wrong, rather than not post at all...

It beats the Prizefinder and Loquax hands down in my opinion.

Of course it's a huge website with lots of fingers in lots of pies.

But that does not stop it from wanting new ideas & ways to make things easier to use every day.

You never know until you ask.

Lots of us kept asking for another BG, hopefully we will have one soon.

Ask about changing the "guidelines" & who knows it could happen & if it did & included adding FB/TW/G+/RC/Intragrame in every comp post made if it needs it then that would cut down a lot of the asking people to change it, more time for comping :beer:

But have you considered if people are actually already happy with the board the way it is? And may not want any more changes or more rules?

I may moan sometimes, but I actually find MSE comps forum very easy to use, understand, and move around - while knowing what and where I have entered too.
