Update 9,30pm Fri 21 Jan: Evening all! This poll seems to have caused more problems than it was meant to solve so I've ended it a bit earlier than I'd originally set it for. I think it's pretty clear what the majority would like to happen, and to be honest was from the previous thread, but we said we'd do a poll so we did. At least in future if the issue comes up again you can point people to these polls to say it's been discussed before.

Have a good weekend!

Andrea :)

I spent a few hours yesterday trying to read the thread, got a fairly good idea of what the majority want but we've said we'll do a poll so we shall.

So here it is finally - sorry for taking a while!

Please let me know if I've missed off a completely obvious option!

Andrea :)

I'm finding it difficult to vote because I still don't know the definition of what a regular competion is.

This poll should address where to post things but it still won't address whether we should be posting as one single thread or as separate threads either, which was one of the main concerns (my examples here).

It also probably makes a difference to what people vote as to whether there will be a few stickies put on the main forum for certain things, if the regular section disappears completely.

Can I ask if for options 2 and 3 you mean links on the regulars stickies not the boards please as this was causing a lot of the confusion before.

  • OK, is it a problem to link to them both on the actual board and in the stickies?

I realise that would mean people potentially posting something three times per competition but I guess it depends whether people feel they're happy to do that?

  • Hi twotimes. I've set up a poll for that as well. And yes, I admit, someone wrote some really good options in the other thread so I've used those.

Yes there would be an issue I'm afraid, it would mean that people who use both boards could dupe their entries if they dont remember entering the comp before which is why we suggested the comp post on the main board with a link to it in the regulars stickie in the regulars board so everyone would be able to see them:o

  • I can see what you're saying Munchkin but from the other thread I got the very strong impression that most posters are split into two camps - those that only use the main board and those that only use the Regulars board. I don't remember seeing many instances of people using both, chiefly I guess because you'd have to be spending a lot of your time comping to be able to do that?

Also, provided everyone's linking on the regulars, both on the actual board and in the stickies thread then it's covering all bases? People that prefer to just go through the stickies could do that, and people that prefer to just use the actual board could do that iyswim.

I think it would be best to post on both boards, but to link to the other boards thread in the op, so that people can hit enter/thanks :)

Plus of course the relevent sticky needs to be notified as well, but c&p should help it not take too long.

Actually, thinking about it, an alternative option would be a redirect by the BG would be another option, as it appears now the redirects can be for the life of the comp. That way everyone would know about a reg comp, and there'd only be one thread to update each day if answers were needed.

Andrea, it is the way yoiu have worded the poll that nay be causing confusion. I read through the comments etc in the discussions and it seems that a lot of people were referring to the regs board when they actually meant the stickoes thread WITHIN the regs board.
If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.
