MSE_Andrea wrote: »I can see what you're saying Munchkin but from the other thread I got the very strong impression that most posters are split into two camps - those that only use the main board and those that only use the Regulars board. I don't remember seeing many instances of people using both, chiefly I guess because you'd have to be spending a lot of your time comping to be able to do that?
Also, provided everyone's linking on the regulars, both on the actual board and in the stickies thread then it's covering all bases? People that prefer to just go through the stickies could do that, and people that prefer to just use the actual board could do that iyswim.

I know what you mean but as crin says here:Andrea, it is the way yoiu have worded the poll that nay be causing confusion. I read through the comments etc in the discussions and it seems that a lot of people were referring to the regs board when they actually meant the stickoes thread WITHIN the regs board.
There was a lot of confusion on that other thread where some people said BOARD when they meant STICKIES as we found out towards the end of the threadJust become FTBs & Aiming to be mortgage free by 2034
Thank you to all who post on the comps/freebies forums you've helped us save our deposit :money:0 -
I thought the main complaint was that people on main board were missing the comps. But a permanent redirect would solve that problem, and keep both boards informed. My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

I thought the same thing it's a bit less of a faff than the OP posting the thread on both sections and linking them together by posting the link to the other one in both of them, but everyone gets to see them as they'll technically be posted on both forums, sorted!0 -
As a relative newbie I am a wee but lost in the haze. I am only aware of one comp board, this being the one. Can anyone please shed some light for me as to what might be happening?
Many thanks

A Huge thanks to everyone for their help, hard work and dedication. :beer:0 -

It's quite complicated, but if you look at the top of the page, where the 'I won! I won! I won!', 'Game Over' and 'Regular Competitions' boards are, there's been a lot of confusion and talk about how to improve the flow of the Regular Competitions board with the main 'Competitions Time' board.
These two polls are about trying to find the best ways for making any changes.
I hope that helps a little, but like I say, it's quite a complicated situation and it's very difficult to explain.
If you've never looked into the Regular section it might be worth going over to have a look and seeing what you think of it and just seeing what's over there at the moment.0 -

If the most popular option gets less than 50% of the vote then the voting needs to be repeated with the least popular options eliminated, otherwise the winner is an option with more people against it than for it!
Otherwise I tend to agree with twotimes - all options are badly worded and there is no explanation in post #1. I could vote against two of the options but I can't vote for any of them.
Option 3 covers so many different scenarios such that anyone who votes for it could well find out they get something they are totally against. In covering so many options it will get far more votes than it deserves and I would predict it will be the most popular. For anybody who can't see what I mean imagine a vote for dinner. a) Fish b) Roast Beef or Pork or Chicken or Lasagne or Chilli or Curry and finally c) Steak. Option b) wins the vote and everybody gets Curry.0 -

I realise that would mean people potentially posting something three times per competition but I guess it depends whether people feel they're happy to do that?
yes that would create a massive problem for me. i cant remember from one hour to the next what ive entered if not for the enter and thanks buttons.
as it is at the moment when things are posted on main by one person and then posted in the regular forum by another person i and others disqualify ourselves by entering form both threads, many times ive only realised when someone else with a better memory comes along and says its already been posted!
the two boards are meant to compliment each other. at the moment they dont because a number of people wont post over there because they get less thanks if they do so less people seemingly see it ( that has been a reason given by quite a few posters)given that the majority of compers work there way through main first and only look at regulars when they have run out of other comps to enter. this has been fine up to now because they have not needed to go anywhere else because a large number of regular competitions were posted on main.
however those of us who use regular board and the sticky threads therein BEFORE coming to main and then comp by end date on main when we have time to go through the 200plus comps ending the next day that there usually are, were missing out on a large number of competitions because they were posted on main and not in regulars and nobody informed the regular sticky thread maintainers that they were a daily or weekly so they could be added to that list.
so because the rules said a regular comp was to be posted on the regs part bgs started moving threads. thus we discovered that everyone has differing ideas on what constitues a regular.
having the same competion posted in both places is not a good solution and will just cause even more resentment and complaints and anger.0 -

The problem here, is that with the system you mentioned, people who primarily use the regulars more than the main board are having problems - but by changing it (what has been happening) it means the people on the main board who do not use the regular board are missing out.
My problem is im sure more people use the main board than the regular board , and in my opinion, its the main board that should take priority.
As i put in the other poll -
Does it really matter what defines a regular comp? As long as it posted on the main board for people who do not use the regular section, and are happy with one entry in a multiple entry competition, and as long as people who use both have a way of checking if they have already entered (my suggestion above) does it really matter?
Does this not solve at least some of the problems, or am i over simplifying it?0
