Glad I saw that I don't actually have to send my old brush

It's DAFT that they expect people to go without a toothbrush for more than 28 days whilst waiting for the new one to arrive.

    Seems like it's all hype.

    http://www.colgate.co.uk/app/ColgateOralCare/ElectricToothbrush/ProClinical/UK/EN/Offers.cwsp

Here are the steps to take part:
    1. Complete the on-line registration form on this page
    2. Successful registrations will receive an email on 24th July with instructions on the option to swap your old electric brush in the mail using a freepost address.
    3. Once we receive your old electric brush in the mail, you can expect to receive your brand new Colgate® ProClinical® A1500 within 28 days.
    http://www.colgate.co.uk/app/ColgateOralCare/ElectricToothbrush/ProClinical/UK/EN/Offers/Terms.cwsp

    T+Cs

    5. If an applicant does not wish to recycle their old brush, they will still be eligible to receive a Colgate® ProClinical® A1500 brush.

    1. Only UK residents (outside Northern Ireland), who already have an electric rechargeable toothbrush, are eligible to apply to receive a Colgate® ProClinical® A1500 brush under this offer and applicants must be aged 18 or above. Only one entry permitted per person. No bulk or third party entries will be accepted.
    1. Successful applicants will be sent their Colgate® ProClinical® A1500 brush within 28 days of the applicant’s eligible swap form being received. Applicants will not be notified of the receipt of their swap form (and, where sent, their eligible brush) and so may wish to request a proof of postage when posting their eligible brush.

Hi, I had an e-mail from Eloise Keightley, who was the point of contact regarding this promotion, on 28/06 and she stated that there would only be 750 toothbrushes to swap each day at the London stations, advising me that there would be no point turning up at midday as they couldn't predict how many would be left by that time. Good advice for me, but proof that Colgate knew that their stock levels would be inadequate, given that the offer was highlighted to approx 8 million M.S.E. email subscribers alone!

When I read the article in the MSE weekly newsletter, I could almost have predicted that this would happen. Remember the Hoover 'free flights to New York' fiasco? However, having said that, by pure chance we were travelling through Waterloo on Monday 8th, so I took my old toothbrush just in case. Arriving around 10:30am, we only had to queue for about 10 minutes and managed to get a new toothbrush in return. So thank you Colgate. Good luck with the PR!

I had a similar experience on Monday 8th at 09:00. I had been completely lapse and only ever read the original ads in which the promotion started on Monday and turned up to what was a queue no more than a dozen deep. For once being off the ball paid off as Colgate were off it even more than I was.

I have filled in the contact us form available at the bottom of promo webpage and sent the following message:

AS A UK RESIDENT FOR 54 YEARS SINCE BIRTH I GREATLY RESENT BEING EXCLUDED FROM THE BIG ELECTRIC BRUSH SWAP JUST BECAUSE I LIVE IN N. IRELAND (WHICH IS PART OF UK). IF THIS RIDICULOUS AND DISCRIMINATORY EXCLUSION IS NOT REMOVED BEFORE THE PROMOTION END DATE OF 20 JULY I SHALL NO LONGER BE BUYING ANY COLGATE PALMOLIVE PRODUCTS INCLUDING HILLS (WE HAVE PETS).

Perhaps if enough other UK residents being excluded simply by their postcode sent the same or similar message to the company it will remove this ridiculous exclusion.

I mean it's easy enough to get round - just use a friend's address on the "mainland" (now there's an emotive word) and get them to post the brush over in the unlikely event of getting one. But that's not the point.........

Im sure they will be gutted after they have laughed themselves silly at your threat.

ETA: Saw this in the Standard this evening

I have a perfectly good Philips electric tooth brush, but it's about five years old, so I would love to swap it.

Waterloo is crowded enough already, what are they thinking of?

Come to Brent Cross, do it in BOOTS, where it belongs.
Loads of free parking. Do it during off peak hours, like 10am to 4pm.

It sounds like I need to queue from 06:00 to make sure I get one,
but I can't get there by tube that early.

better still come to anywhere outside of London.

Is this really a PR disaster? it upset a few hundred people who didnt get a freebie!

Mentioned in 2 separate MSE newsletters. the things that are mailed to about 4 million people each time they are sent. Id not even heard of the promotion at all till I got sent the newsletters so Im wondering how many others hadnt till then and swamped onto the concourse.

    Nail on head.
it wasnt Colgate who put it on MSE (was it?) so they wouldnt have expected so many people

I have registered one for each relative of mine:beer:

    technically,
750 perday for 10 days (5 days each at waterloo and victoria) means they prepared 7500

now after handing out 750 on first day, they added 7000, that means 7750.

so a mere 250 extra toothbrush, and they put it online to face the whole nation!!!
    back to London;)
