Let's see, we can weaponise this phenomenon.
We announce a cosmetic surgeon practice is giving away free boob job vouchers. Ten thousand Essex girls descend on a say, animal research facility, no vouchers, get disappointed, and tear it apart.
What if we advertise a marriage matchmaker website is giving away 100 VISAs to go to America. Good looking women, young or mature, fill out a free joining form to get a chance to win a visa. Come to the Red Square on 13th July. 100,000 Russian women scream, "we want out, we want out", overrun the Kremlin, start a new Nation based on feminine ideology, called New Amazon.0 -
Well, I just won a Philips Sonicare toothbrush - great example of PR picking up on an epic fail...0

Why are these events always held in London ?
Doesn't the rest of UK exist ?0 -
That has always been a valid complaint for most of these promotions. If you live in a rural backwater you will ALWAYS have to travel, therefore you have to rely on the integrity of the promoter not to let you down.0

Turned up at Waterloo. Q was long. Staff unprepared, however, after a short wait of 45 mins. I left with my new brush :j. Have used for 2 days and am very happy. :rotfl:0

They've just announced that they have moved the promotion online:

However, if you consider the initial promotion was London-centric (rightly or wrongly), and 750 brushes a day were available over 8 days (at 2 locations). That equates to 6000 toothbrushes available to a 8 million Londoners.
The on-line "raffle" has 7000 toothbrushes, but is open nationwide to 63 million people - meaning those who had their time wasted yesterday now have less chance of getting one of their toothbrushes :mad:0 -
We went on Monday.
I made a plan to take my son to the science museum and at the same time go swap our old toothbrushes. A good use of the 20 odd quid train ticket and a good day out for next to nothing.
All done, after a bit of a wait. I am glad it wasn't all closed down before we got there that would have been very disappointing.
Thanks for the tip, they asked where I heard about it and when I said MSE they said "MSE? he has done very well for us so far" I was surprised they were glad to have us but she assured me they were.
Some groups in the queue were going to buy a cheap boots toothbrush (£5) to recycle. I suppose once the mob starts it gets away from the spirit of it.0 -
Anyone know if they will do it online again? Not all of us live in or near London :-(Won so far in 2017: ipad mini :j0

Your post reminded me of this from Rhod Gilbert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DO5VjcoJtT8&t=0m47s0
