And I do know that cannabis can in some cases alleviate the symptons of other diseases.
So does heroin*. It's lucky we don't have an outright blanket ban on the use of that though, or else millions of people would suffer and die in extreme pain.
*Also known as morphine.Remember Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the right one.

Good links here. I'm not saying drugs don't have health risks or downsides, of course they do.
A lot of people are just a little ignorant to what, or how serious / common these risks are. And that they definitely exceed the risks related to alcohol and tobacco.0 -

What a ridiculous statement...
That is why they are called 'controlled substances'... the clue is in the name.
P.S. Having cared for someone through terminal illness I understand about pain management and I can assure you that people build tolerances and doses need to be increased. Also, it IS addictive... there is no argument against that. Of course, that isn't your main worry when dying BUT should be of concern to a 'recreational' user.:hello:0 -

<<<<<< This. Absolutely every activity carries some degree of risk, but people need to realise that the legality of a substance not a measure of how harmful it is. As we can see from the science, the most dangerous substance is at the current time, perfectly legal.
But the legality of a substance is a measure of society's values... and to provide guidance to citizens who think they know better....
http://www.talktofrank.com/story/cocaine-no-happy-ending
This person shares their story and it's not happy:
'I am a 23 year old male and i use cocaine. I've been using the drug for more than a year now. It started off like most people using while I was out with friends whilst drinking but I have now become addicted. I use a lot more of the stuff. l will now sit in my bedsit and snort up too £200 worth a night. Every time with out fail when its gone and i start to come down i'm in hell calling up my mum crying my eyes out as i feel so bad, I feel like I wanna kill myself. I feel like life isn't worth living any more the drug has completely done me in, my family don't know where to turn as my mother has tried to help me by being supportive and offering me a way out by being there for me..but i now lie steal beg and borrow which is no life believe me. the money is a problem for me even tho i do work i should be well off but i'm not thanks to my cocaine addiction .i even !!!!!! my stuff in to a local !!!!!! shop to pay for the addiction like my phone laptop and there has been other things that weren't even mine. To cut a long story short anyone who is thinking of trying the drug..DONT! and i will repeat DONT use cocaine because it will break you down eventually even if you have any so called mates that sell the drug use wont be mates by the time you binge is over and any one who is trying to stop and in the same position as me hold it down we've seen better days you can be better again just stay away from the stuff.p.s there is no happy ending with cocaine so stay away.......'
Still think 'recreational' use is a good idea?:hello:0 -

It's the same chemical; in one scenario where it is used to help it's a controlled substance and called morphine, in another it's called heroin and is illegal. Compare that to tobacco, where no such dual representation occurs, because it it harmful in all circumstances. Yet, it is legal.Remember Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the right one.

Another incorrect assumption I'm afraid.
Apologies. I shall correct my statement to "Your wish to justify the partaking of illegal substances is just that."0 -

Yes. I've got more than a passing understanding of risk and chemistry and I'll be guided by the science rather than anecdotal story-telling.Remember Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the right one.
