Sigh. No, not enough said, not nearly enough in fact. This is just another piece of anecdotal evidence that proves precisely nothing.
Here a young woman dies from paracetamol toxicity;

Paracetamol is therefore deadly and to take it would be recklessly endangering oneself. Enough said.Remember Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the right one.

In my own experience, addicts and regular users of harmful legal substances tend to believe that they have 'higher status' /are above (whatever that might mean) non-addicts and occasional users of far less harmful illegal substances.
Actually, I think the same can be argued both ways, the superiority issue.
Regardless of whether legal or illegal drug use is 'worse' I don't think it can be argued that to hiding drugs from a partner or using them in a relationship where its already been accepted its outside the comfort of a partner is that justify able (whether the substance is white powder or nicotine)0 -

This person shares their story and it's not happy:
'I am a 23 year old male and i use cocaine. I've been using the drug for more than a year now. It started off like most people using while I was out with friends whilst drinking but I have now become addicted. I use a lot more of the stuff. l will now sit in my bedsit and snort up too £200 worth a night. Every time with out fail when its gone and i start to come down i'm in hell calling up my mum crying my eyes out as i feel so bad, I feel like I wanna kill myself. I feel like life isn't worth living any more the drug has completely done me in, my family don't know where to turn as my mother has tried to help me by being supportive and offering me a way out by being there for me..but i now lie steal beg and borrow which is no life believe me. the money is a problem for me even tho i do work i should be well off but i'm not thanks to my cocaine addiction .i even !!!!!! my stuff in to a local !!!!!! shop to pay for the addiction like my phone laptop and there has been other things that weren't even mine. To cut a long story short anyone who is thinking of trying the drug..DONT! and i will repeat DONT use cocaine because it will break you down eventually even if you have any so called mates that sell the drug use wont be mates by the time you binge is over and any one who is trying to stop and in the same position as me hold it down we've seen better days you can be better again just stay away from the stuff.p.s there is no happy ending with cocaine so stay away.......'
Still think 'recreational' use is a good idea?
Peoples life's do get destroyed by drugs. But the majority of people who use them do so occasionally, and for pleasure rather than to fuel addiction, and it doesn't have a negative impact on their life, apart from feeling a bit quiffy the next day. Pretty much exactly the same as alcohol. In my eyes there is very little difference between them, apart from their legal status.0 -
I wonder how mrs angry is getting on.

Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.0 -
Paracetamol is not an illegal drug. Neither is it a controlled drug. Like everything else, taken in extreme, it kills. The manufacture of paracetamol is however regulated.
The manufacture of ecstasy/cutting of heroin etc is in the hands of people who can adulterate the drugs in order to maximise profits. I quote 19lottie82 "Also those who die taking "ecstasy" usually have a bad reaction to the other drugs that are used to "cut" (mix) the drugs, not from MDMA (the active ingredient."0 -

Do you think all illegal drugs should be legalised so they can be better controlled and monitored? And essentially avoid deaths caused by dangerous mixing agents0 -

Most definitely not! I was pointing out the illogical comparison of a legal, non controlled drug with an illegal substance.0 -
Most definitely not!
Why not? Surely it would be worth legalising ecstasy if it would reduce the number of deaths from 40-50 a year to only 4 or 5?
Removing the criminal aspect of it would cancel out any associated crime.
And if they could be sold in a controlled environment the government could tax them and use the money to fund the NHS, schools and more?0 -

No. It is illogical for a harmful substance to be deemed legal and and much less harmful one to be illegal. Yet that is the situation we have and it's apparently one that you're happy to accept because the government tells you to. It's your logic that's all over the place!Remember Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the right one.

Exactly the reason that it should be legalised and treated in the same way as paracetamol is. This is also the scientific community's majority opinion, but like I said before, it's not what the government want to hear, so they ignore it.Remember Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the right one.
