    Mortgage-free Glee!
Agree with all Kerri's things above!!

The veg is coming along nicely, we had a roast last night which included potatoes and carrots from the plot.

I've got 9 decent sized pumpkins coming, loads of butternut squash, sweetcorn, red cabbage, purple brussels, leeks, beetroot, parnips, courgettes & raspberries (had a load of these already). I've also got quite a few tromboncino squashes coming which are really interesting - very long with a bulbous end - bit like a trombone, hence the name!!
The peas have finished and weren't great this year but the tomatoes in the greenhouse are producing very well.

Going to Oxford with DW for 3 nights tomorrow.

    Take care everyone.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat :D

Jeferey - good to hear you are keeping the family fed with all your veg.
We will all know where to come to be fed if the country is ever invaded!
Enjoy yourself in Oxford - lovely city and so much to visit.

Kerri - good to hear your decking treatment worked. Have you had time to sit out in this hot weather?

CW - Any better news on your knee brace?

We are finding this weather too hot & humid at the moment - just don't have the energy to do anything. Hope it is a bit cooler in Madeira when we go there next month. Although it is always better having the sea breezes to freshen you.

    Take care all

Have sat out a little but definitely have a lack of garden furniture (two white plastic chairs is our lot, and a travel blanket) so not the most comfortable after a bit. There is a set I like online but I'm hoping it will go in the sale.

jeferey I'm very envious of all your veg - though of course you put the hard work into it all - quite literally the fruits of your labour.

CW hope you're ok and you get your brace sorted once and for all.

Managing ok here with the heat but had to lie down yesterday with a stonking headache pre-rainstorm - have always been a little weather sensitive but seems to have been worse than usual this summer. Feel bad for people who suffer migraines - must be horrible. Was back at hot yoga last night after a bit of a break - at least it felt cool when we came out afterwards :rotfl::rotfl:

Good morning red, kerri and Jeferey

Just seem to have had a busy week with a couple of hospital appts, blood tests etc. Went for the new knee brace and it was no good for me. It was almost the same as the one I have so I didn;t take it, the hospital may as well send it back and get a refund off the manufacturer. It started to come down when I was walking .

The orthotist said if he can;t find one he will have to have one made to measure for me. The ones he has given me so far are elasticated but they stretch as you walk and start to come down which defeats the object of a knee brace when its near your ankle instead. lol.

red - sorry to hear that you had to attend 3 funerals. Sad time for the familes involved. Lets hope its a long time before you need to go to another one.

kerri - nice to see your posts. Hope the house is coming along, at least you can sit out in your garden and get some fresh air. Maybe you could make some pallet garden furniture if you can get some pallets free. I have seen some pics of great ideas made from pallets.

Jeferey - enjoy your few days away with your DW. Hope the garden and allotment gives you plenty of veggies for the family.
    Take care guys

Sorry to hear the brace still wasn't suitable cw, is ther anything on here that looks like it might be suitable?

    http://www.physioroom.com/catalog/Knee_Supports_Braces/2034.html?gclid=CL2wtYuW4c4CFQgq0wodPL0CDw

I guess thy need the elasticity for knee movement but that doesn't help if it then slides down.

Busy week here as usual, like the look of pallet furniture but I really wouldn't have time to make it myself.

Hope everyone has nice plans for the bank holiday, and the weather holds for you xx

Lovely weather here again today. Not quite so hot as last few days which makes it more bearable for me. Only downside that something had a good meal off me indoors last evening - neither of us saw any insect flying around but I must have tasted good as I have bites on both arms.

How was Oxford Jeferey? Did you enjoy the sights or just laze by the river?

Kerri - what exactly is hot yoga? Doesn't sound as though it is very calming.

CW How frustrating that they can't find a brace to suit you. There are so many on the link Kerri posted there must be something out there to help you - jut keep persevering till the best one arrives - perhaps it will arrive as an early Xmas present if you can wait that long.

Off to Madeira on Monday - looks as though as soon as we arrive rain is due for a few days so I need to pack a waterproof but never mind we will just have to take some bus trips & enjoy the views in the rain or I can catch up on the reading I haven't done lately. Just seen that there are storms scheduled for UK shortly as well - at least I won't have to worry about watering garden when I am away!

Enjoy what is left of this year's summer.

    Enjoy your holiday Red

Hot yoga is basically what it sounds like, Yoga (all different styles and classes) but in varying temps of hotness. from about 33 - 37 degrees celcius. Its actually an infrared heat so is very effective at warming the muscles from deep within quickly allowing you to get deeper into poses and reducing the risk of injury. Well, that's what I'm told anyway, personally I just tend to look like a sweaty beetroot :rotfl: However, it is different from exercising under the sun, I can't stand running when it's too hot yet I can do a 35 degree yoga class...go figure :cool:

CW I really do hope your knee brace gets sorted soon.

Lovely weather here atm, we're finally cracking on with the house - after a drought of quotes we've got them coming left right and centre for various jobs. Frankly the 'shop around and get three etc etc' is going out the window - its so hard to find one person nevermind three to come round and do the numbers.
Looking at some of the figures though we're going to have to get very creative in other areas :money: ... the cat is starting to look a tad nervous when I turn the oven on :rotfl:

Kerri - you & your cat made me laugh. I know what you mean about getting quotes, we've had that problem. Now tend to take the first quote and then worry if we have been conned and if the work will be good.

Our daughter's partner(who unfortunately was killed on his motorbike) was an electrician & had contacts for all kinds of work so life was easier then, although my DH used to do most things anyway
Health issues now mean that we are having to get someone to decorate and any other jobs around the house which takes time but is also so expensive in this area.
Our granddaughter is a great DIYer but we don't like to ask her as she has such a busy life with 2 children and fulltime firefighter in London that her little spare time is very precious.
I am learning to not expect changes quickly & live with what we have. At least we are lucky enough for now to be able to afford paying for workmen to come & do things although I prefer to use the cash for holidays!!

Exactly with you on the first quote thing Red - I try and make sure I use / contact local companies as think at least they rely more on word of mouth than the big names.

I can do some DIY or at least learn but I just don't have the time and OH doesn't have the interest. He knows or has contacts of some people but sometimes you don't really know what their work is like and it's often harder to tell someone who you know / might see socially that you have an issue with what they've done rather than when it's someone you're employing to do a specific job.

Good morning red, kerri and Jeferey

Wow, great link kerri. Just had a look and some are so expensive yet others not too bad a price. I have one brace that is similar to some of those but will have another look later on. Hope the house repairs start to get done soon. I hate dealing with workmen and getting quotes etc. Half of them don;t know what they are doing, thats if they turn up at all. Then the other half want to charge the earth for even minor jobs.

red - enjoy your holiday in Madeira. Even in the rain you can have a nice rest, no housework, just peace and quiet so i am sure you will love it.

Jeferey - hope all is well and you enjoyed your holiday.

The weather has changed today, its raining but not too cold but it is more comfortable to breath so not too bothered.

    Take car guys
