Woke up to rain this morning so I did what I've been meaning to do for a while and put some Rain-X on the front windscreen and front side windows. Brilliant stuff. Once up to 45mph rain just streams off and you don't need to use windscreen wipers. At slower speeds just an occasional wipe is required and visibility is much improved over non treated windows.

Good morning kerri and Jeferey
been ill the last few days again. Dr said its a virus (which is code for "I don;t know whats wrong with you". Having a blood test to see if that helps them decide whas wrong with me. The drs changed the ibuprofen for codeine and paracetamol to see if these work without making me sick. Oh, the joys of getting old.
You get good use out of your credit card Jeferey. Half price goodies can;t be bad, especially at this time of year when your buying pressies etc.
Never heard of Rain-X Jefeey, is it a spray of some kind?

Hi CW, hope you're feeling a bit better now. Sorry to hear you've been ill
Rain-X is a liquid. I got some free ages ago when I bought another product and it lasted years. I bought this bottle for £5 at a Top Gear Live show ages ago too. You put a little bit on a clean windscreen with a cloth in a circular motion, wait for it to dry and then polish it off with a clean duster. Then you sprinkle a few drops of water on it and polish it off with a piece of kitchen roll. Doesn't take long and lasts about 6 weeks
Another MSE thing I did a couple of weeks ago was to get one of those Asda Christmas Savings Cards and bung £144 on it (used the new AMEX card so it helped me reach the spending threshold). 2 days later I got a £6 bonus - can't earn that in the bank and now we're using it every time we go to Asda.

Good morning CW, Kerri and Red
You seem to be getting everyone's share of the rain CW
On my last car the battery lasted over 7 years before it gave up the ghost, I thought that was pretty good. My commute is only just over 20 miles and in a morning at 06:30 it's only just over 30 minutes, it's the going home at the minute which is taking nearly an hour - I blame the dark, the cold and the people going Christmas shopping but like CW says it's no so bad with the car sharing, I won't be driving at all next weekWell done on the WH Smith freebies Kerri.
Mine had lasted 11, nearly 12 yearsso hadn't done too bad at all. Can definitely notice the difference with the new one though, car much happier starting now.
Sorry you're feeling under the weather CW you're right with 'virus' being code for 'we don't know' but that's not always a bad thing as some docs are way to happy to hand out drugs like smarties these days, then wonder why illnesses are becoming resistant to the drugs.
Busy week here but we do have our Xmas decs up, hopefully after this week it will be downhill to Xmas though. Did manage to get out for a run this morning and yoga this evening howeverFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Wow, that's amazing Kerri. I've never had a car that long, never mind a battery! Last car I kept for longest ever 9 and a bit years.
Sunny in Sheffield today.
Have a great weekendIf at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat0 -
Good morning kerri and Jeferey
Cars are a flippin nuisance sometimes. Our neighbour came round and asked if my ds had some jump leads. Luckily we had some and he decided to give him a hand getting his car started. They couldn;t get it to work using the jump leads so my ds ended up push starting it on our street.
It was nice here Friday too, the morning was best, quite warm and sunny considering its December. But yeterday was dreadful, rain, wind, cold. Think today will be the same.
Will try and get the tree up today, can only do the lounge as the plasterers are in next week replastering the landing and stairs. Our stairs lead into the dining room. Going to be a right mess as the ceiling is being reboarded too. The plaster resembles crazy paving there are so many cracks in it. But its got to be done so going to have to put up with it.

Good morning kerri and Jeferey
Got my tree up in the lounge, thank goodness. Feel as though my lounge is sorted even if most of the rest of the house isn;t. Even managed to write a few xmas cards so going to carry on with them today if I can. Had to throw out 3 sets of lights that were dead, luckily 2 sets did work so thats enough.

Good morning Kerri and CW. We got our tree up at the weekend too once we'd taken FB back.
Took FD up to the allotment yesterday morning, managed to dodge the rain and get some leeks, beetroot, carrots and purple brussel sprouts.
Had everyone round to our house for early tea last night, DD1 came over with BF and DD2 stayed over after her 2 shifts as Sainsbobs. Hasn't happened for a whileI dropped DD2 off at the railway station afterwards at 6.
We did jacket potatoes from the allotment, my mum brought over a huge home-made lasagne she'd cooked earlier and we also had some part food, mmmm.If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat0 -
Evening all. HOW is it only a couple of weeks til Xmas? It seems to be creeping up very quickly and the weather has been so mild here that it really doesn't seem like Dec at all. In fact for the past few days I've had washing outside - it hasn't dried 100% but its nice to get some fresh air through it. Xmas cards pretty much written though - couple to post still and have started wrapping the presents to. Actually some have already been sent to their various recipients. Still got foodie gifts to prep / make but can't do those til nearer the time. Only 4 more work days for me before a lovely xmas break - have definitely earned it this year and can't wait. Off to the Big Smoke tomorrow, looking forward to seeing the lights and hopefully a festive market.
Good to hear your allotment is still keeping you all well fed jeferey sounds like you had a house full at the weekend.
CW hope you found out the lights didn't work before putting them on the tree!Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
