Wow! That's interesting! Here in the states, they offer AmEx users many kinds of promotion deals as well. Thanks for letting me know. =)

I went into my post office today to mail out a bunch of packages and the pin machine was having problems with my AMEX card - therefore I'm guessing royal mail don't take AMEX cards? But you can get AMEX travellers cheques?

    Anyone know for sure?

    Post offices dont take it

  • well IKEA should accept AMEX all over.. not only their homeland..
  • Wiggle (online cycle retailer) do not accept American Express, but helpfully suggest using the card via a Paypal account.
  • London Midland do not accept Amex (this includes self-service ticket machines). However if you want to buy tickets for any of their services you could go to another train operator's web site such as Cross Country or Virgin Trains that do accept.

B&Q used to accept but no longer

I can confirm that as of yesterday, B&Q still do not accept Amex.

Does anyone know how much American Express charge retailers per transaction and how this compares with other credit card issuers?

Amex charge around 4% whereas Visa/MC charge around 1.5%

That is a long list, but I was wondering why H&M Clothing company is under the list of those who accepts AMEX? I don't think they do. They even have a sign that they do not take AMEX.

  • Some retailers that used to accept Amex no longer do.
