Who Does/Does Not Accept Amex?

For sure Costco supports AmEx and they even promote it as well! Often times I run into situations where they do not allow AmEx and that's such a huge inconvenience. I totally agree with Rhino666

In my Costco in Glasgow they only accept debit cards!

Wow! That's interesting! Here in the states, they offer AmEx users many kinds of promotion deals as well. Thanks for letting me know.

John Lewis indicate on their website that they do take Amex. Look at Payment Options under Customer services.


Also, I thought I had asked in the store in the past and they said that they do take AmEx.

Pret a Manger definitely do... I buy my lunch about 3 times a week with my Amex from Pret.

Apologies if this has come up before, but I haven't been through all previous posts:

Q: How can you be sure a restaurant doesn't accept Amex?
A: If your bill is presented in a smart leather wallet sporting the Amex logo.

Believe me, but this has happened to me so many times and I find it weird.

I went into my post office today to mail out a bunch of packages and the pin machine was having problems with my AMEX card - therefore I'm guessing royal mail don't take AMEX cards? But you can get AMEX travellers cheques?

Anyone know for sure?
