B and Q no longer accept Amex. The young salesman at the counter did not now but there was a small. well scuffed and barely readable sticker on the counter which said that B and Q will not accept AMEX as from April 19th.

    Same with Screwfix

take Amex - I just had a leaflet telling me so! Along with a list of local little shops and restaurants that do.

furthermore, https://www.amexnetwork.co.uk is an Amex site that lets you investigate what places take it, and has a form to submit the names of stores and chains that don't currently accept Amex, where you would like to use it.

Edit: Oh! I also just saw that if you do online shopping via the website above, Amex donate 2% to Save the Children. Given that it includes e.g. Amazon and Tesco links, that's awesome.
