You really need to start reading the threads properly before you constantly post tripe.

    He's got previous for that.

So at say, £30 an hour, a qualified mechanic could do this job for £210 + parts?? :rotfl:

Not for you, because they see you coming, obviously ;)

But yes, a mechanic who doesn't stitch his customers up could do yes.

I know that in your profession you may find this hard to believe, but there are still some honest people in the world.

I challenge you to find a mechanic who will do it in less than 2 working days, bearing in mind thats 14 hours. You're talking half a day to get the engine out and on a bench and another half a day to get it back in again.

So thats leaving you 7 hours to strip the engine down, replace the rings, rebuild, and test. I use three different mechanics and they're all talking approx two days.

Google it and anyone who knows what they're talking about is talking in that ballpark.

And no, i dont pay £30 an hour, but i know that to be fairly typical for a small VAT registered established garage.

Its not about not being honest, its about being realistic.

Actually its quite sad that you cant admit you're wrong about your 'assumptions' on this thread that you have to result to making cheap jibes about me to try to score some sort of internet 'win' for yourself.

No, he is a troll from another thread who thinks he knows the policies of every emergency service, in every county with regards to blue light driver training. When he clearly isn't qualified himself. And because he won't accept facts he gets abusive.

Not at all. Most of my comments are followed with a ;), which in case you didn't know means I was joking.

However I am not a qualified mechanic, although I do have a great deal of mechanical experience. And as I said, I have removed, stripped, rebuilt, and refitted a cavalier engine on my own, in one day. Granted it might have been longer than a 9 hour day, but it certainly wasn't anywhere near 2 working days.

So if was longer than nine hours, what was it? 11? 12?

Because thats surprisingly close to 14 hours - two working days?

Plus as they havent made a Cavalier for nigh on 20 years, i'm sure it was nowhere near as complicated under the bonnet as a car made this millenia?

So i'm not really sure where all your false ridicule was coming from?

    Jokes with a jibe attached.

Actually if its only a matter of adding a winking face for it to be meant as a "joke", then i have to say i find you an irritating pedantic little man who cant admit when hes wrong ;)
