Hi dorsetgirl2016 and welcome to the Forums.
I'm sorry you've had to wait for an answer about a replacement boiler. Applications under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) are dealt with on an individual basis. Each is different so there's no set timescale.
As a general rule, if the boiler was installed before 2005 and it's broken or not working properly, you might qualify for help towards a replacement. Additional costs may apply for things like safety work, pipework, scaffolding, extra radiators etc. It'll depend on the results of the assessment you mention.
Applications are dealt with by our specialist ECO team. I suspect these are the ones who'll be in touch. There's more information, including contact details for the ECO team, on our website. If they haven't spoken to you yet, I'll be happy to give them a nudge. Just drop an email to the address in my Profile with your details.
Sorry again for the delay letting you know what's happening.

I am an official company representative of E.ON. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. Can someone please help as I am desperately worried?! I applied for a boiler grant through ecoboiler.org.uk or something like that, I've had 2 surveys done on the boiler and was told I might be asked to pay up to £250 for the new one. We had a phone call yesterday from a lady at the company asking for the money up-front. We've had no emails or letters from them and their details (address, tel no) also exist for 4 or 5 other companies. How do I know they are legit? I'm not paying a penny 'til I'm sure, and with no heating it's freezing, we need our boiler replaced soon! TIA x0

Lovely chap on the phone said I qualified for a free boiler, yippy ki ay......
Wait for it.....
Only problem was I have an oil boiler, ???????
What is the problem, a boiler is a boiler, should it matter if it's oil or gas??
Well yes it does matter, I can't have gas, there is no gas in our village.
So the very people this grant is ment to help are going to go cold this winter.
Any thoughts on this one anybody? why no oil?0 -
I contacted EON when I moved into my bungalow a few weeks ago. I have come across hurdle after hurdle though this is not the fault of Eon. The main problem seems to be the company called 1 Green Place who Eon use. An assessor came out on 17th September to conduct the EPC and to check the documents in my possession to prove that I own the property. He said he would email the EPC to 1 Green Place that night and I would hear about stage 2 of the assessment where a gas engineer comes out to inspect current heating system etc. Whilst conducting the EPC on 17th Sept the assessor noticed gas smell coming from gas meter box and told me to ring National Grid, which i did. They came out and fixed the leak but issued me with a notice saying our boiler was "At risk" due to inadequate ventilation. Since then the boiler has been switched off as I am not prepared to use it with 2 young children in the house. It is getting very cold now and despite ringing Eon and 1 Green Place we have yet to have Stage 2 conducted. We are fobbed off with excuse after excuse (from 1 Green Place). Finally an appointment was booked for today. I booked the day off work only to be telephoned at 10am but an emloyee of 1 Green Place with an excuse as to why the chap can't come out to perform the assessment. A new appointment has been booked for Friday 13th November! LOL The boiler is 30 years old and is an 'open flue boiler'. I knew it would need replacing, hence my calling Eon to set the wheels in motion but now we need a new form of heating asap as 3 plug in electric heaters are not ideal. I will keep you posted but it seems like this boiler grant system is a lottery0

Well I did the online questions and it came up I qualify for the free boiler because we get tax credits and my 20 year old Autistic son gets DLA & JSA an appointment was booked for 9am.
The man turned up half hour early walked in and said well have you got the paperwork he was very blunt and rude I showed him the paperwork and he said you earn over 16,000 you don't qualify I explained what had been said over phone (as above) he said does your son have kids and get tax credits if not you don't qualify I said he is autistic and lives at home he does not have children he got up walked out and slammed the door.
Now my boiler has totally packed up and we are without heating and hot water.
So if you don't work claim job seekers and have lots of kids you get a free boiler:( if you work hard have disabled children you don't get one0 -
HI,
I have a rental property which has a back boiler, anyway i can get this changed for free?0 -
British Gas have told us their criteria has changed, so now our boiler is free. My husband works, we have 2 children (won't be having anymore as we can't afford anymore!). We are due to have it fitted tomorrow so I'll update my story as and when.0

Hi all,
On the MSE website it advises waiting times for a loft insulation survey through British Gas is about 4 weeks. Yes it caveats that by saying it can be more, but when I called them last week to make a booking the earliest appointment they could offer me is the first week of February 2016. Apparently they're very busy because everyone wants it done for the winter.
I was just wondering if this type of waiting time is typical of what others are currently experiencing?0 -
If you live In Northern Ireland do the free boilers apply0

Hi Guys, does anyone know of a Energy Company or Scheme who provides Loft Insulation as per the picture at the top of the discussion page:

The Insulation goes in the roof space and not between the joists, would be pleased for your input.
