Anybody dealt with this company?
Coming to fit replacement boiler - want £200 ( I thought I qualified for free ( child under 16, tax credits, low income )
although they are replacing with a combi - present is a not working very well boiler with storage tank
No paperwork whatsoever....
So what assurance do I have they will do the job properly?0 -
I'm starting to question if anyone ever gets a grant via EON or ends up having to pay for a new boiler themselves as the process takes so long. A condition of the application is that the boiler isn't working properly or needs repair, ours has had a leak now for several months whilst waiting for the grant but it seems unlikely this will be sorted out for weeks/months. Our application which started in August with EON is still ongoing but is now at a stand still as One Green Place do not have an installer in our area to do the technical survey and subsequent installation. Our application was passed by EON's audit department to One Green Place over two weeks ago, but I only found out this week when I called them that they are trying to appoint an installer as their last one was useless (doesn't inspire confidence), but it could be weeks.
Is anyone else having problems with EON/One Green Place?0 -
My boiler is now 24 yrs old. I qualified for a free boiler ( via the Energy Saving Trust advice service) and tried on several occasions to get one from several different energy suppliers including British Gas and E-ON. I was accepted and an assessor appointment was always arranged several weeks ahead. EVERY single time the arranged appointment neared I got a phone call either from the assessor saying they couldn't do boilers only insulation or the energy company saying they had run out of money and to apply next year. This went on for 3 YEARS. Each time the same thing happening. I managed to keep my old boiler functioning as I knew I couldn't afford a new one as a pensioner on PC. I did have one person arrive and said I would have to pay £600 for scaffolding (my flu is fine and only 8ft above the ground) and £450 for a new piece of pipe from the boiler to the landing (a straight uncomplicated distance of maybe 12 feet). So the 'free' boiler was already going to cost me £950. He also said there might be other costs arising during fitting. He was obviously a scammer but he was the only person to turn up. I told the energy company and they weren't interested and told me to apply again. So I phoned the Energy Saving Trust advice service. They too made all the right tut-tut noises. I asked them what they could do to help and they admitted, after an embarrassing silence, there wasn't anything they could do. So rather than waste anymore of the precious time I have on this world and for my sanity I gave up on this utter load of 'tosh' for want of a better word. My boiler is really old so isn't very economical so I often go without heating to cut down on costs. I got a quote from a local young qualified plumber who was amazed at me being asked to pay for scaffolding and piping as he said it's not needed . So I've been selling my few bits and saving to fund me a new one some time soon .... Looking at other forums on-line I'm the only one to go through this rubbish. It seems to me it's mostly just a paper exercise to make all involved tick boxes that make them look good!!!!(from the Government Dept who set it up to the energy companies who are supposed to comply). As long as they make you an appointment with an assessor they can say that they complied. So the Government then say 'oooh aren't we grand at what we do to help the poor!' knowing it hasn't cost them any money. Anyways that's my experience... sorry for the book version...the short version is 'it's all b******s !!0

I've been offered a Logic boiler under the Nest scheme, which is a Welsh scheme run by British Gas with Welsh government funding. Not sure whether the actual boiler funding comes from central govt though. They will install the boiler and all pipes and radiators because they say my system is too old and it will cost me nothing.
So what I want to know, if anyone can tell me, is how good the boiler is. It is a Logic 30kw HE and has a 1 year labour, 2 year parts guarantee. Not sure if the gurantee for the boiler is with them or Ideal. From what I can tell the HE boiler is discontinued and I have read some bad things about the first logic boilers so I'm afraid I'm going to be in for some big repair bills after the 2 years is up.
The guy who services my 40 year old Potterton says it works ok and I'd be better off sticking with that than a combi but then he means rather than paying for a new boiler which I'm not.
Also my water tanks need replacing anyway
I'm thinking British Gas just have a load of discontinued boilers that no-one wants and are installing them with short guarantees under grant schemes to get rid of them. Hope I'm not right. I'm trying to contact Ideal to find out more and if I can extend the guarantee but so far no response to my emails.
It seems to me the Logic HE boilers are the same design but maybe had problems that have now been fixed with the latest versions but I don't know for sure. Maybe another installer would fit a better boiler but I'd have to pay a lot for extras.0 -
Well our FREE boiler was fitted last week! We now have a wonderful Potterton boiler and our house is noticeably warmer. We had an issue in that we needed the boiler earthed, it was all sorted along with installation. We didn't actually receive any paperwork until installation. We went through British Gas and this is the first time I've ever been happy with their services. I hope this info helps someone - we were quoted £250 initially, but when we asked for the details to be posted to us, we were offered it for free within days.0

Hi, we have just had the 1 Green Place gas heating engineer come to do the technical survery (some two months after the EPC) and have been quoted over £1000 for the "free boiler" installation. If I had the money I would have just paid £1700 to a local reliable installer who can come out if any trouble! Where I am going to get £1000 I have no idea! Who is helping who under these schemes. Rubbish!
Got 2 freezing cold kids and they can't even guarantee installation before xmas IF I give the go ahead0 -
