Hi just wondering if anyone can give me some advice.we get our boiler serviced every year by British Gas the last couple of times the engineer has mentioned that we should look into a new boiler because they are now struggling to find spare parts for our model it is that old.

Thought i would ask if here if i might be eligible for a free replacement boiler.

I am on Working tax credits and also receive DLA i am also still at home with my folks I dont know if that makes a difference or nor.

Any advice would be helpful.

My boiler was 25 years old and British Gas said they couldn't get parts because of its age. It is because their employees are trained to work on modern boilers. I use a local plumber who can get any parts. We are on tax credits, self employed with a low income, and over 60 and with a qualifying child and had a new boiler last month. Make enquiries. They would probably take into account the income of all Folks living in the property. There is no harm in trying! Hope this helps.

Does anyone know which companies are used by the energy firms in the South? I know dyson are used by edf.

It might be a good idea to start a list of which companies are used by every Energy Supplier.

I`m in the south and my energy supplier is Scottish Power and they use Dyson.

So far thats :

Scottish Power = Dyson
EDF = Dyson

One to avoid. I had Swale Heating from Sittingbourne, Kent fit my boiler in Oct. . When I was left with a leak, even a recorded delivery letter to the MD, a follow up email and a conversation with some woman called Charlie only brought fourth a few "sorries" but nothing since. To add insult to injury, they asked for a contribution on £280, but the only extras I got was a few pieces of wire to earth the basin, radiator and (wait for it!) the rose on the ceiling for the string pull light switch. I have spoken to Citizens Advice who thought I was talking about the Green Deal. Off now to write to my MP as all this was a Govt initiative. I will also try to reclaim my money from the Credit Card company. I have no intention of giving up.

I have applied also in July and had an install date of 17th Dec and no show or call.
Their installers are totally over comitted to complete the demand.

Their excuse was installer illness,
New install date is 4 weeks later,they are total W######.

I was then told that I would have to wait another month until 17 Jan and was told that 2 engineers would be booked for the job to ensure somebody would turn up. When I asked about priority treatment because of being let down twice already I was told that they wouldn't cancel somebody elses installation and do mine first because it would mean letting them down aswell. Does this mean its okay to keep letting one person down time after time?
After discussing this poor service with NPower for some time, I was told that he had more important things to do than argue with me. NPower offered no recompence because "it wasnt their fault this time" but Help-Links.
My loft insulation also took until 4th Nov to be installed.

Am on my third provider/installer...SSE Coldbusters Croydon
