  • I have now gone back to Dyson and asked them to carry out their 2nd survey to determine exactly how much I will have to pay towards a replacement (supposedly free !) boiler. I have taken everyone`s advice on here and will get Dyson to individually list every new accessory required, its cost and labour cost.

  • Hi guys

Seems like a lot of you are having problems with a lot of companies

We do install boilers in the north west of England for people on benefits as long as the boiler is over 7 years old

If you would like further information feel free to send me a message and I will get back to you

    Thank you
  • I,ve looked at the g rated list and they are mainly in the 60,s% efficient,so ive probably dipped out as mine is,nt on the list.I think I,ll try someone else.
  • Hi,
This is my first time so i dont know if i am placing this post in the right place?
I have had a free boiler installed by a local company called WellWarm through the government boiler scheme. It was installed in August 2013 and 6 months down the line there is a leak on a magna filter cylinder which they fitted as part of the installation under the boiler. I called them out to have a look and the guy admitted that this part wasnt the best and has turned out to be faulty. The next day they rang me up to say that to replace the part it would cost £50 plus £65 for call out charge cos this fault was not within 3 months of the original installation.

My question is: What are my rights? Surely the company should replace this part for free? Especially since they have stopped using it and replaced it for so many other customers?

All help would be greatly appreciated

Well, the boiler will be under warranty, not sure about this item though. If in doubt, ask trading standards.

or just find a gas fitter on checkatrade to give you a quote,it sounds like this is an extra piece that cleans out rubbish from the system, you,d expect it to last a bit longer though.I would,nt pay any call out charge!!!

I applied for a new boiler last September after the Gas Engineer condemned it, .........Where do I go from now?..................A little bit about me - I shall be 83 years next week....felt unwell with a heavy cold and now developed a chest infection............

    Hello Solitaire 82
I do hope you're feeling a bit better; I know it's awful having a chest infection, and I'm 25 years younger than you!

Just wanted to say that you should not have to put up with this, and that you should make it clear to all concerned that you are in a "vulnerable" category - ie old and unwell - and should not have to wait like this. If the people you're dealing with over the boiler still don't get their act together, try mentioning the lack of central heating to your GP? And if he or she can't put any pressure on, suggest asking for a social worker to help?
Or, if you don't like that idea, how about a phone call or e-mail to your local MPs office? They really can work miracles just with a word...

Good luck with getting it sorted
  • Have only got electricity, no gas, no chimney, and as far as I am aware they don't replace immersion heaters on the scheme, so how can i get my hot water working again?
  • Free Boiler under ECO. would be great if the energy companies were not being totally greedy and keeping all the funding themselves. we paid thousands to be accedited to the scheme and were doing a great job giving people FREE boilers we are only a small company but offered a great service but the energy companies are not giving the providers any funding to allow us to do this. instead using cheap labour, charging you the customer a contribution to what is supposed to be free and keeping all the funding for their already greedy pots. Martin you really need to look into this as you are advertising the 6 big energy companies who's greed again is pushing out all the good small companies. we employed 4 installers, have loads of desperate customers we could help but no funding

Yes,Yes,Yes Martin, take this abuse of the free boiler scheme on. I got 3 bits of wire attached to my basin, radiator and cord light pull for the £280 I paid to Swale Heating and a leak and torn ceiling paper. In 3 months, they will not reply to recorded delivery letter, email or phone call. A letter is on its way to Stewart Jackson, MP which I know will land on the energy ministers in tray. I live in hope to get my money back. Very grateful for the boiler but........OAP80wallace
