  • Hi I was just wondering if anybody has had any success in obtaining a free boiler via Scottish Power. It said I qualified as I am a home owner and somebody who lived with me was on JSA. Does anybody if they have to be on a certain time or what happens if they find work?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My installer failed to come up with the goods, and passed on my confidential details to another "Free Boiler" merchant without my authority. The Energy Savings Trust says I should seek assurances that the details have been destroyed failing which I should see Trading Standards.
  • I had a company round to quote for cavity wall insulation although not on any of the deal schemes. It was explained to me there appeared to be difficult access due to a ground floor extension and side pitched roof carport. The assessor went on to say that if they could do it they would be back in touch, needless to say there was no contact.

Would this be classed as 'hard to treat' in the new scheme?

My elderly neighbours don't get any pension credits, just the state pensions, he gets attendance allowance and the wife gets carers, do you think they would qualify for a free boiler?
Or any other help to keep warmer. They have some savings but not a lot, I think about £18,000.00.

Should do Marj, I'm on AA and they accepted me, though it didn't come to anything.

Best to try their own gas and electric providers, and helpful if they are already registered with them as vulnerable customers.
OR, if they cant help, get them to refer a non cowboy outfit..
  • Thanks but how do you know if its a cowboy outfit?

Cold calling, pressure selling and not registered as an accredited agent with the EST.
  • Hi,

Who is the best provider for loft and cavity wall insulation?

I believe my husband and I are not eligible for free loft and cavity wall insulation, as we earn more than £16,000 and we do not claim child benefits.
