Hi
I wanted to see if anybody knows of any company that are giving grants for new radiators?
My parents currentely have radiators (over 20 years old). They have just had eligebility for a new boiler done (leeds based Solar King) and are entitled because they get pension credit. But the company doesnt have any grants for radiators. So can anybody please help?

Hi
I have had a nightmare regarding the boiler replacement scheme. Firstly I applied in July and have only just been told the outcome! it has been a comedy of errors, resulting in the application being lost and me having to resend all the documents over myself. Regardless of all this, I have been told through the whole process that yes the boiler is inefficient (its 25 years old and pretty much broke), and we qualified, (got an elderly relative who receives pension credit, and a young son living in the property), at no point have ECO ever called me with updates I have always had to chase them. We had the EPC check and again was advised that the boiler was inefficient etc. This week I chased ECO again and was advised the application had now been cancelled!!! The reason apparently behind this is that the house is deemed efficient enough and does not warrant the funds been allowed. No phone call nothing. The reason the house is efficient ... because we have cavity wall insulation!!! so I don't understand the point of offering this service if everyone (regardless of the boiler situation) with cavity wall insulation / loft insulation will be denied. Absolute joke is all I can say - we have held out on getting a new boiler purely because of ECO, and now we are in the middle of winter with a barely working boiler and a cold house, and looking at having to now find £3k to replace it ourselves!
One unhappy customer.

lisa,id reapply through another energy company,i,m not sure who you dealt with?
Just because you have cavity insulation(like I have),does,nt and should,nt exclude you from the other freebies.
I,ve been on to the government dept who arranged all this to ask them who is monitoring the scheme.Whoever you spoke to in my opinion, has got it wrong.0 -
Solid Wall Insulation - anyone assist me getting through this mine field?
I'm just trying to get my head around this without incurring any costs upfront, and was hoping to speak to an actual installer of this technology before committing myself to paying for anything, I am in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria.
Basically the house is a 1870's built sandstone end of terrace. We have child tax credits and earn under the £15k mark and rent from a private landlord.
The gas bills for the house are fairly high and I was looking at this external solid wall insulation, I believe there are grants available but I will still need to pay £300-400 for a green deal assessment and then from there we might be able to get between 40-70% financial assistance from the ECO scheme. The rest financed via the green deal and you get the £300-400 back for a green deal assessment once the insulation is installed.
I am fairly confused by the whole process because from some websites, low-income earners in low-income areas can qualify for a grant to cover the cost of installing hard to treat properties, without the need of the green deal assessment either therefore no need to spend the £300-400 for a green deal assessment upfront?
I have contacted some local installers who are not able to help, they do not do the ECO or affordable warmth scheme.
If anyone could please assist, it would be very much appreciated.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
Hi Lisa
I would try another company...i used Solarking based in Leeds. 0113 887 7413. Gave me a three week timeline to put boiler on.
Good luck0 -

What sort of warranty comes with the Eco Warmth Scheme?
I'm due to have a potterton boiler fitted Friday through SSE/carillion but have not been told if there is a warranty or service plan.
Currently with British Gas homecare, so it would be nice if i could reduce that as it is around £30+ per month or maybe better to keep it as at least BG are pretty quick with repairs.0 -

Simon BG reduced our homecare agreement down to £6. There is a one year guarantee which potterton increase to 13 months if you register with them. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.
