Options
hi, not looking for medical advice.

history, just a few weeks short of my 50th birthday.
suffer a range of medical problems, which are all being treated by dics/hospital, but really suffering from horrendous, hit flushes during day and night.
not really wanting to go on hrt, but does anyone have any idea how to alleviate these horrendous flushes.

I could shower constantly all day, and still feel yuckky.
i came into the world with nothing, and guess what? i still have it!!!:p

Oh dear,I know all too well what it feels like.i was on HRT for three years and it restored my sanity. I am now fifty two and came of it nearly two years ago. I'm still having horrendous flushes, day and night.
All the fun things in life make it worse like alcohol, coffee and a nice sweet diet of carrying a few pounds extra I'm in no way fat, but a healthy diet is th only thing to help me. I bought a few nightdresses from M and S made from Modal fabric which are super, even better than cotton.
It s just so boring being good at eating to try and keep them at bay! What's left for us?
I also find using mineral makeup better than liquid foundation. It stays put for longer. I bought Sme supplement but it was no help to me.

Sage tablets helped me a lot. They are worth a try.

I found that a chillow pillow at night is great - it stays really cold so you can slip it on/in your pillow when you wake up and you quickly stop the flush! Google will tell you more about it!

For the day I have a couple of meno cool scarfs
they have crystals in the neck part that expand with water and stay cold for 24/48 hours. Sold quite cheaply, about £5 on amazon.

    The menopause is the pits!

thanks will try out a healthier diet, though I do tend to watch what I eat, and gave up on make up it was sliding off my face lol.
will also visit health shop try out sage tablets.

thought I could cope with it, but this last couple of months been terrible, yet no one likes to talk about it.

another question as not sure if coincidence, but having really weird dreams, especially relating to my childhood, which incidentally was not a good one! x

My mum started HRT very early and when it was relatively new, she was on it for 30 yrs  At the time it was sold to her that it would make the whole menopause go away, she would come out the otherside of it with HRT having taken away all the symptoms, sadly this was not the case and isn't for many women.

She wished she'd stopped a long time ago, nobody told her back then that when she did stop all the symptoms would come back, difference is when she was in her 40's she would have been far more able to ride it out than she is now that she's in her 70's. It would have been all over and done with a long long time ago.

I'm another great advocate for sage tablets. They have all but stopped my hot flushes. I was waking up in the night absolutely soaked but this has all stopped now :)

I am wakening up 4/5 times during the night wringing, hair plastered to me and sweat running off me, its horrible, waken up in morning feeling exhausted.

has anyone got any idea about the dreams?
