  • Thought I'd better pop back to blow the cobwebs away...... Been a while again!

Ok, good news and bad news this time....

BAD - Somehow in the last couple of months, I have managed to creep into my overdraft again  It's only £500 but thats not the point! I know what £130 of it was, but the rest was just down to 'reckless' management/spending really   .... So I have had to transfer £500 from my CC savings money to pay that off (OD int 10.9%, CC 0% til Mar 08). My CC balance is £1315.53 and I now have £808.68 saved to pay it off, which means my CC balance is effectively £506.85

    GOOD - Three things actually.....
    1) My SS cashback from TCB is on its way to me, plus some from Vanquis (can cancel that card now!)
    2) My Quidco looks like its going to be about £120 this month, so thats good.
    3) My water bill came on the 25th Sept, showing a surplus of £51 (we pay £23pcm by standing order).... when I was tidying up earlier, it re-surfaced, so I called them up and the nice lady said that she couldn't reduce my DD as they only review once per year, but she would cancel my DD, refund me the £73 (!?!) and then I should call again in a couple of days to re-instate my DD..... somehow we managed to increase our surplus by £22 with a £23 DD  ..... Still, that'll be extra that can go back towards the CC :D And I would suspect that because the DD review isn't until Mar 08, we will have a surplus again :D Good times!

Otherwise nothing exciting to report.... except OH said he wanted his CC back so he could by some Xmas prezzies.... I did tell him that a) shops don't accept cards unless they are whole, and b) as his CC debt was moved to my 0%, he will still need to give me £78.50 a month to pay his last bill..... can't imagine for one second that he paid any attention to that!!! Oh well..

Oooooh, just realised its the first of the month and another loan payment has gone out.... must update my sig :D

Your OH sounds a bit like my dad Sarah, you think the lights on and then something mad happens and they snap and recklessly spend.

We've got Sky HD and I'm sorry to say but it's rubbish, we've cancelled the £10 a month (!!) charge now.

  • I know exactly what u mean..... I'll be honest, I can't tell the difference unless I really look hard - then it hurts my eyes and I have to turn it off anyway! The only time I notice the diff is when playing games off the xBox.

I'm sure for him it is some kind of deluded status thing..... 'Look at me, I have Sky HD'...... erm je suis bovvered!?! He's the kind of person who won't take a packed lunch to work because a) Managers shouldn't eat packed lunch, it doesn't look right, and b) he hates the term 'packed lunch'

I do love him dearly, but he can be such a pillock!

    Thanks Candy.....
I saw ur post on Change Jar and had the same 'haven't seen Candy around for a bit' thought too! Great minds and all that! Congrats on ur total by the way!

I wonder with the going off track thing if we are expecting too much? I don't know about u, but I am very impatient (esp when itcomes to paying off these debts), and when I think of something, I want to put it in place straight away! Maybe I am setting myself unachievable goals!?!

  • Thanks Sarah

Possibly we do expect too much, I dont know, it doesnt help with my unhelpful OH who can spend £80-100 on a night out!!

I am due to have my one year review with CCCS shortly and then I really must try and stick to my budget, that is where I fall down I think

Same as me, I'm pretty pants with budgets, and I think I might be over-savings, hence having no cash left at the end of the month....
OH usually only spends £50 on a night out, but lately he has been going out twice a week again.... and he wonders why he has no money either!

  • I know, I'm so busy reading everyone else's diaries, I forget about mine!
    Not much to report really....
Money wise, CC balance is now down to £415 ish, but I'm eBaying again, so hopefully that'll go down a bit quicker! It's all 0% but its bugging me! I'll be debt free by Oct 08 if I don't make any effort at all, so I'm determined to get rid of it all asap.

OH applied for an Egg card thru Quidco (one MSE thing he has been converted to!) and got on with a limit of £1250  But I told him from the beginning, if he spends on it, he pays for it! Did he listen? Probably not
At least everything in the house has a receipt in my name, if it came to it, the only things the baliffs could take away are his precious Skyboxs :rotfl:

Work is ok atm, very stressful as its the run up to Xmas (Cust Service Mgr at a supermarket) and we are gettin busy and there are a stream of newbie to train (not that I mind newbies!).

Getting a bit excited tho, talking to PaP about the Birmingham meet, as I couldn't go to the last one..... are u coming?

Thanks for looking in on me, I really must get to updating a little more!
