    Hi Mrs S,

Good luck with sorting through everything.

My DD2 pulled out her whole wardrobe yesterday and wrote 3 notes saying 'small' 'right' and 'big'. Then she sorted through most of it! I need to get on with my personal decluttering challenge. I did most of the house but now I need to go back through it all again!!

Enjoy your time free time - my two have gone out with friends and hubby is cooking me a lovely meal :D

Hi Little-Miss, I'm avoiding ebay at the moment, the past couple of things I've sold have gone missing, and ebay/paypal just automatically refund the buyer, and I've been left out of pocket :(

Thanks OF - we did enjoy our kid-free time. Didn't do nearly as much as I had hoped, but it was nice to have some alone time.

I haven't got too much to report on the money front today, I have to take a kids digital camera to work tomorrow that I have sold for £12, and I checked a lottery ticket that I found and there's £10 to claim from that. Not sure whether to pay that in or to keep it out the bank. I have a dinner out on Tuesday night, and I need to go to the butchers for something for tea for tomorrow/tuesday so probably no point paying it in to withdraw it again.

The kids are stressing me out already, they've only been back since 5pm and they are both shouting and shouting and shouting at me at the same time from their beds.... while OH sits there and watches Top Gear like the house is completely silent. Feel like such a bad parent sometimes, but they just don't seem to let up!!

  • My DD1 does the same shouts constantly from her bed that's when she's not finding excuses to come down stairs. The following day she is so tired she's a pain in the rear! My other 2 are completely different.
Hope you have a good day x

Its so stressful isn't it? Last night was a disaster, I ended up in bed at 9:15 because I couldn't take any more of their constant shouting, and pretty much cried myself to sleep.

OH was playing his xbox, completely oblivious, and then came through and asked why I hadn't made the kids lunch for today - even though its his day to drop them off!! He just has no idea how tired I am all the time.

Today is yet another rubbish day, because I have 6 miles of petrol left, only £12 in the bank, and I'm supposed to be going out for tea with some friends as one of my best friends moves away at the weekend. OH gave me £5 last night, which would have given me £17 which would have probably covered tea, but now I will need to go and put petrol in or I won't get home, and he took the fiver back to go to the shop for packed lunch stuff last night.

Sorry for the whingy post, I'm so fed up of feeling like this

  • Aw thank you Little-Miss - I do feel that after I have been on here I feel a bit better, and I'm sure this is helping keep me focused. Its just some days it feels like there's never going to be a light at the end of the tunnel, but I guess thats only because I have had a really tight two months, and I'm SURE it will get better once get paid in August.

Need to do a food shop tonight, then the money OH gives me for paying off the card, I will stick in the joint account instead. I don't want that going into the red again, so need to build a little bit of a safety bubble.

Also have to get moving with my selling, I have some stuff to stick on Gumtree, so hopefully that will sell. I have carboot stuff ready but I don't think that will make much - I will have to go and see I guess!

Hi Diaryland... just a quick update. Have been to Aldi and done my weekly shop, spent £53 so thats not too bad. Will need to check the bank tomorrow (as I'm getting tired and don't want to go to sleep in a bad mood!) and transfer what is left to the bill account.

Have been thinking about hubbys 40th, its in September and he doesn't like parties, fuss etc etc. So I have been thinking and I've decided I'm going to give him 40 parcels.... they won't necessarily be big or expensive things, but I thought it was quite a quirky idea.

So far I have ordered a Colin McRae book from Amazon (£2.81 and I have £7ish of a voucher left) so thats the first thing. Other ideas I'll list below. Any help or suggestions welcome!

    1. Colin McRae book
    2. Bag of his favourite sweets (can get in the shops when they are £1)
    3. Bottle of something fizzy
    4. Socks (he's always moaning he never has socks!)
    5. Canvas prints of the kids he's been asking me to get for ages (Will wait for an offer)
    6. An engraved pocket watch (that will be one of the bigger things)
    7. Bottle of this baileys type stuff he uses to make cocktails

Obviously this will need some work and some brain power, but I WILL have 40 individually wrapped items for him on his birthday!

    Good night for now,

  • So, I'm on a roll with this birthday idea for my hubby, have added a few things as I was bobbing off to sleep last night. It will all be things he will use, with a few funny/joke things too. Will be using my diary to keep my list so I don't forget things!

    1. Colin McRae book (Ordered from Amazon £2.81)
    8. Inflatable Walking Stick (£1.39 ordered from Amazon)
    9. Old Gents PJ's - he has mentioned these before so am sure he'll wear them!
10: A pipe - seen on amazon for £2/£3 ish
    11. A Gents Flat Cap (Still Game style!)
    12. Some Grecian 2000 or Just for Men Hair Dye

I know I have another 28 things to find, but for example, the canvases will count as 3 because I'll wrap them individually. Off to do some work, and will update as my brainwaves come to me!

  • Hello MrsS,

That sounds like a lovely idea for your hubbie's 40th, I did the same for my hubbie's 30th a few years ago and he loved it, got a photo somewhere of him with his 30 pressies! It does get expensive though, so watch out, especially once you add in the wrapping paper you need to wrap 40 gifts! If I was you to save a bit of cash, I'd put in a few vouchers for 'favours' to count as a few of the gifts (you'll do washing up/hoovering/make tea - whatever is his job - for a week) or a sexual favour or two!! My hubbie loved cashing in his vouchers!

Also not loving the idea of you crying yourself to sleep, sounds like you need a hug from him, not him mithering about packed lunches!

How are you getting on with your savings £1-£52 for a year? How was your meal out with your friends? Some things are too important to miss. I am leaving work tomorrow (moving to another location - changing employer but same job, complicated) and the girls I work with are desperate to go out for lunch today with me - I have been trying for weeks to get out of it, but I actually started to offend people and it wasn't worth it - so I'm going. When are you doing your car boot? My Mum and I are doing one next month I think.
    MBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
    Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
    Bank of Scotland = £2,782.83
