Gutted to say the least but it does go to show how easy it is to spend money when you're not thinking about it, and also has reassured me that the 6 or 7 savings accounts I have that have between £5 and £20 a month being paid in for future holidays are definitely worth doing as I didn't save anything for this long weekend and it's ruined my plans to save.
Shocked to say the least but I will learn from this mistake and move on.
This is why I'm still following a DFW lifestyle as I know I've not got my spending urges under control. It's so easy to look at an in-credit bank balance and think "Ooh, I'm rich, let's go spend!"0 -
Hi all
Thank you:D. I celebrated today by having an SFD:D (I wonder when NSK is returning to England and it will be safe to hit the shops).

Evening!
This is going to sound silly but I resisted a *really* strong urge to buy chips tonight lol. I sat there thinking that would be £6 out my spends, then a couple of quid for cokes... that leaves me only £40 spends then plus I lose a SFD. I do have a scrap of will power here somewhere lol.
Today = SFD number 15
Siouxsie - You have started something now! I have found my old wallet and will be using that for my misc spends. I don't do mystery shopping (yet) so am spared the need for a third lol. Does this mean I have to get a man bag to fit them all in now ha ha :rotfl:

Morning everyone!
I was killing time (avoiding starting my revision!) this am and I found this article. I know for a while we have tried to incorporate a £3 charity donation... Next month's rules talk about it toowhich is an awesome inclusion. In the past I have bought a coffee for a homeless person, but this has made me think. Kat has already suggested a donation at a food bank and it really makes sense.

Buying a coffee on a cold winter's day for someone I'm sure would still be really welcome but this made me think just how much convenience coffees are!!! I take them for granted sometimes. On the path to true frugality - this may be the way forward!!!
It's actually a great site - with recipes and stuff that work out at like 26p per meal and stuff. The woman who writes the page admits that the food isn't always restaurant quality - but if you are on a budget, or looking to make savings - this could help. She actually reminds me a bit of Kat - being determined, thrifty, outspoken and a little bit scary!!! Ha ha!
Am ending July as follows:
Total SFD = 15
Fuel = £95/£30
Personal Allowance = ~£350/£120
My new shiny budgets are up for August and have changed my signature, and changed my allowances. I've also managed not to spend too much in the danger zone between pay day and 01st, meaning my budget can actually still start from tomorrow...
Have a great day!!!⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐

I've been DF for a couple of years now and try to live a DFW lifestyle but you're right, you get cash and you say "I can get this" to EVERYTHING! Grr. Anyway. Moving on, today is a new day.abundant1972 wrote: »Morning everyone!

I read the same article this morning and have decided to go and get a bag of shopping tonight. Am just trying to find out where would be the best place to drop it off, I know there is a collection bank in our local library but it's just inside the front door so I think it would be too easy to steal from. I might ring the council and see if they have one.My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Today should be another SFD. Need to buy some nappies for nursery but can use vouchers to cover that and won't be buying anything else. Got paid today and am £100 short in my budget that I must have spend last month don't know how....Anyway, this month it's back to spending diaryDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

A small bonus - bought DS a Mr Bloom book from Ebay yesterday because he adores him and I'd had a letter from Paypal saying they would give me £5 if I used my Paypal account in the next 14 days - book cost £3.93, so £1.07 up on the deal - yay!
Also, I had a balance of 64p on my credit card (an old card still linked to Google Play), couldn't pay it off as it was less than £1, so emailed Capital One to ask how on earth I was meant to pay it and they have refunded itSo another 64p up!
Every little helps, as "they" say....xMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Morning all - a spend day today - going to pick up the few bits we need before we head to my parents in Scotland on Sunday. Oh and dentist for me and the kids too - joy!
Abundant - I read the girl called Jack thing a while ago and by chance again yesterday - each time it reduces me to tears - I imagine how I would feel if all I had to feed my children was weetabix and water with nothing else. Its a year since she wrote the blog post that started it and although her situation is better its not amazing either. The scary thing is there are probably kids with Jacks as their mums at my daughters school and in the tiny village where I live.
Anyway - had better get the teeth all shiny before we head into town.

I have just made a calendar for August, put all my outings etc onto it and allocated funds. I will divide the funds up into envelopes tonight. I will do it this month! I think I will only be able to make 14 SFDs but if I put all DSs clubs money away now and I don't spend anything else on those days I might count those as SFDs. Am I allowed to do that?My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
