Morning all
So, I've been away since last Thursday and haven't been very good money-wise so I am throwing in the towel for July and will start afresh in August! One good thing though is that I saw my brother who I sometimes pick up work-from-home work for when he's busy, he owed me £500 so I got my mitts on that! Allowed myself a £20 spend from it as it's my birthday this week, but the rest is allocated to paying off my balance transfer credit card.
I've also said no to pizza at work tomorrow lunchtime as I have done my food shopping for the week - was going to be £5 but that's way more than I'd want to spend at lunchtime!
I have a hen do to go to on Saturday night but have budgeted for that. Once I;m back it's all hands on deck (or should that be purse strings?!)
Looking forward to the August thread xxMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Munchin - CONGRATULATIONS!! Happy DFD to you
Sfd here today (that would be number 21!). Kids off on a joint playdate. House has hit the market. Work to do but feel like progress is being made!!

:j Munchin, congratulations on becoming debt-free :j
Today should be another SFD. Payday tomorrow but I hope I can stay spend free till the weekend and then do a bigger grocery shop on Saturday. From then on it's only exactly 4 weeks left in August. So hopefully making the month shorter should help with budgets. Which will be:
I'll try the £150 grocery budget again, that's then 37.5 a week. I allow £50 for other spends which should mainly be nappies (hoping to slash that after the toilet training  in August). I'll pay off £90 of the CC for half the flight back home on Christmas and put £400 into my DPM account. It's a cheap nursery month and OH only gets £100 for bills after I overpaid him last month. That leaves enough for all my bills and £300 in an garden spend account as we need a skip etc. I also definitely will carry a wee notebook again for all my detailed spends.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Woohoo! There is quite a bit of exciting news flying round this thread! I love reading when someone has become debt free, it really keeps me motivated!
My decluttering is going well, 16 things listed on amazon/ebay and I am frantically looking round for more to list! I had a SFD yesterday, and hopefully today will be one too. Yay, nearly the end of the month!October make £10/day currently £11.020 -
Hi all
Drum roll please..........
:j DEBT FREE AS OF 30/07/2013 :j
It hasn't sunk in but I'm happy. I'm sticking with NSKs challenges as they will keep me on the straight and narrow and keep me honest. Also now that she is in N Ireland there is a chance she could appear behind me while I'm merrily spending:o
Munchin that is fabulous news! :T0 -
Afternoon all!!!
Wowsers! I forgot how dubious and intermittent the internet connection can be in the countryside! So first things first..
:T:T:TCongratulations to Munchin on Being Debt Free!!!:T:T:T
Am so proud of you! But you have signed up for August so I am glad you are now on the debt prevention mission! You must be so happy though!!
Mrs Toast.... Can't wait to hear the good news on Friday!!!
Siousxie I have to get ready for heading out but Mumsie wants to read about your purse usage which I found fascinating as well. I am going to root around in here for three "spare" purses and do the same this month.
I am resigned that there won't be much to put towards my debt this month but I will be balancing the CC and the money that I had tucked away for Bike Insurance. I will try and get below £5000 but am wanting all the "bitty bits" cleaned up. I am assuming my wage will be a certain amount due to overtime but that is a bit of a guess at times.
I have fingers crossed...
Munchin I am gonna find you if I hear the ching ching of a till opening...mwah ha ha ha haaaaa!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Our baby girl is being evicted this Friday so I don't know how I'll be able to keep up with you all. DH has a fridge/freezer/pantry full of food for while I'm in hospital and will have an entertainment fund for DS as well as the monthly pass for the play barn. I have a budget for hospital parking and spends for me while I'm in hospital so hopefully won't go over that.
OMG how I misread that post :rotfl:. I thought your daughter is being evicted from her home while you have to go i to hospital for an op. Just realised it's your due date :T. All the bestDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Groceries: £320/£300
Fun: £3.70/£100
Debt paid: £1161 paid in full
SFD: 14/20
Another spend day, bought lunch stuff for the rest of the week from the market and a naughty pastie as I really couldn't face the soggy leftover rice from last night's tea.0 -
Someone around here just labeled me a Hobbit in the August thread! :rotfl: Im 5ft 6/7!! I'll never be a hobbit!!
Needless to say that that someone is currently residing in the land of the lucky charms and pots of gold at the end of the rainbow. If we send her a spade it could be the answer to all our DFD's come to think of it!!

OMG I'm so cross with myself - I've just gone online to sort out all my extra payments from my £500 extra - and most of it has already been frittered away. Gutted to say the least but it does go to show how easy it is to spend money when you're not thinking about it, and also has reassured me that the 6 or 7 savings accounts I have that have between £5 and £20 a month being paid in for future holidays are definitely worth doing as I didn't save anything for this long weekend and it's ruined my plans to save.
Shocked to say the least but I will learn from this mistake and move on.My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
