Kat - i love your challenges. I try to abide by most of the rules but won't blindly follow them if a particular rule won't help me or doesn't apply. I mainly like how it keeps me focused - my dfd is 250 days away (aww what a nice round number!) but monthy missions break it into more manageable, less daunting chunks. I like how i have to think about my expenditure and set targets. I like how if i miss a target i have to explain the difference - only to myself, but writing it makes it seem more real.
Another SFD for me too:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:

Apparently I don't follow the "post every day" rule!
Evening everyone  Gosh, what have I missed? Kat whipping her boss into shape (go girl!!!), LAGL and her housing woe (hugs LAGL), Abundant and his dramas (I love a drama!!)- ooh it's all been going on! And Karma's back :j Hi everyone else
I've been following you all, just not posting much. I can't work out why I've been AWOL. I think I've either been busy or been boring (although I have been feeding my Ben + Jerry's habit...thankfully the supermarkets have put it back to full price as my belly's a little too jelly for my liking:eek:). I had a breakthrough yesterday when my body actually craved a green smoothie - hurrah!!!
I really want to have a food month like you've just done Kat, but I also really want to have a nil budget food month and the two might not work together. I plan to use just vouchers, points, wombled receipts and cash I find lying around to pay for my August food! I already have a few pounds on an Asda gift card, about £8 in Nectar points, a £1 Price Guarantee voucher from a wombled receipt plus I'm expecting £20 of Waitrose vouchers to land on my doorstep mid August so I'll not starve! I'll use any money that I still have left from this month's food budget as a top up as well. My freezer's looking REALLY bare - it's been too hot to cook so my batches of yummy lentil stew and my chickpea casseroles haven't been made (MUCH easier to grab a spoon and a tub of B+Js!!). I have 1 portion of Quorn Chilli and a little split pea soup and that's it! I have a £3 off £20 Sainsbury coupon to use in the next few days but I struggle to get to £20 in one go....maybe I should buy bleach and washing powder?
Oh, does anyone have an account with mobilephonexchange, the people who buy old mobile phones? I am thinking of selling mine (had a better offer!) and they're offering the best(ish) price and have the best reviews. They have a £5 referral scheme so if anyone wants to refer me, you'll pocket a fiver for the pleasure of it!
So, how have my budgets been?
Food: £34.21/£50
Petrol: £50/£50
Misc: £22.10/£50
Not bad...no more nights out and half a tank of petrol leftPayday on Monday (I think) so it should be easy to make it to August with what I have left!

I don't want to be up at this time!! But already waiting for a bus! Super early shift ( nearly tempted to use Herc but got scared incase I needed more petrol)" ) but should be done super early today as well! Glad your back Siouxsie, I was gonna inbox u today and make sure you hadn't succumbed to a milky B&J death... But really... What a way to go!!!
I like this "feed myself on vouchers etc" thing for August! I am not sure my £9.50 from Tescos would get me very far! I know what u mean about soup and stews not being very appetising right now! I'm eating my weight in salad which is super expensive! I'm gonna be stricter in August but still do my green smoothie breakfast.. It's fairing me well so far!
Right... Plan plan plan for August!.. Should be up by Sunday before I head home! Gotta get my Pa a sun hat from a store over here but as Mumsy is giving me the pennies back it will be an SFD if it kills me. Monsters University might be the order of the day for cinema visits ( Pacific Rim & Worlds End tucked away already this week ) with Wolverine possibly on Sunday if we have the time..:-))..
Planning a "eat all my fresh veg before I go" meal for the next three evening meals.. Should prove interesting judging by the amount of onions I have left! Lol! French onion stew anyone?...bleurghhhh!
Right... Eyes open for my bus...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Hi all....A NSD again....went to the pub with son...I gave him my odd £4..I got two shandies...so 2nd £5 option taken...
The last two challenges that Kat set have been interesting and have refocused my mindset..
I like the way as a group we strive to an end...however I am surprised how easily it is too fall of the wagon....I have 'just ' overspent but am pleased how little I have done so by!...
Thanks Kat. I may well pop back in September when the school holidays have finished..and everyone is refocusing ...
I will be spending tonight and tomorrow, not a lot ?,so back in on Sunday with an update...
Byeeeeeee have a good one X0 -

I can safely say I cannot help you there, struggling to get to £20 on a supermarket shop is not an issue I have ever had! :rotfl:
Seriously though, might be worth (Kat please don't shout at me) stocking up on some basics that won't go off e.g. washing powder, bleach, pasta, tinned tomatoes, loo roll, bin bags etc etc if you would already be spending around £15...?
LAGL - fingers and toes crossed for your houses plans! Also, looking forward to further info on the slightly cryptic work update!“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”

Hi all
Shuffling in with bags under eyes - can't sleep as it is soo hot but not complaining (too much) as the good weather will be gone soon enough and I will miss it:).
Ok spendy day yesterday - I was out for lunch with a work colleague who is leaving and I still owe for her leaving pressie. My SFDs are few and far between at the minute:o but it would be so much worse if it wasn't for this thread.
Groceries: £127.40/£100:o
Misc: £43.80/£40
SFD: 11/20

Morning everyone
I have been following this thread since it originally started and have to admit I couldnt get my head around it or thought it would be impossible for me. Anyway after reading everyone adventures and successes I think I really want to go for it for the next few months as I only have just over £2700 to pay off (i never thought i would say that) to be debt free apart from the mortgage.
I have very little room for manoeuvre most months but since getting a few PPI refunds last year and early this I have got a little slapdash with the spending. I seem to now think I'm richer than I am.:rotfl::eek::rotfl:. This is getting a problem especially with little pops to the food shop.
Anyway I would like to join you for the next months challenge if that's ok. In the meantime I'm going to keep reading(being nosey) and work out my figures too for the next time..
I said at the start of the year I want to be debt free by Christmas and I need a final strict kick up the bum.
Thanks for the thread and inspiration NSK but you do scare me a little.;)1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Oh heck I thought the predictive typing had gone bad on this computer then when I read the work lick. :eek:I had to go and check I had wrote kick. Phew:rotfl:
On another thread I replied to a question to spag Bol and it came out as slag oil.:o I thought I would never live it down.

Today won't be a SFD as once again I visit PaH this week, this time for cat litter. I'm beginning to think kids might've been cheaper
ETA: £15 spent in PaH, kitty had better like the "posh" kitten food I've bought him!0
