Lotti - do what's right for you. If you want to go, go, if not, don't. But make your decision based on you and not what anybody else says, us and your mum included
Another SFD for me, just about to put tea on and OH is out on a bike ride in the sunshine. Peace and quiet for a bit, until he comes back a sweaty mess complaining he's hungry!:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:

Evening!!!
Lotti - I can only echoe what others have said... How would it feel to be upfront and honest with her now? A really good way of managing situations like this can be to flip it on its head...
e.g.'Mum... I appreciate that this holiday would be a really good opportunity to spend time together - and I would love that. However - I'm already in debt - and I'm trying really hard right now to clear it. I owe you money as well that I would like to clear, and what funds I do have are now tied up in an investment fund. Going skiing whilst nice will put me £1000 further into debt. It would be nice if we could do something closer to home this year - still spend time together, but without the cost. Imagine you were in my position - what advice would you want to give yourself in this situation...?'
If she still says you should go she is effectively saying she thinks you should get further in debt... which am sure she wouldn't want. Sometimes - just being honest can be the best thing. Get it all out in the open. Just a thought...
On the home-front here, had a good spend free day - my friend at college had even bought me a drink when I arrived - the MSE fairy :A was looking out for me I think!
Today = SFD number 3
This evening I've used up the casserole I made the other day, and am going to just chill out before bed. Have a nice evening everyone...

Didnt update yesterday as I take the hound from hell to training class and we don't get back till very late
Anyway, he was as good as gold.......just like kids and save the naughtiness for at home . That costs me £2 a week but have paid the whole month. Used up an oregano French stick by making a sort of pizza with it for tea last night. Wants too bad!

Evening All
Spent on a tie and school badge for DS2 and paid the window cleaner but this money was already in my purse (didn't have to touch the bank account today) so do I put that as a spend day or SFD??
Decided I need to stop using credit as a crutch and clear it. I'm planning to pay off the catalogue completely this month and then close the account. I then want to clear the overdraft, have £100 or so to stay in the account once bills have been paid and then cancel the overdraft too..........still feeling very nervous about doing it though?
Hope everyone has a great evening0 -
Good evening all
Well I would do a full update but DH is hogging the laptop so on my phone.
I managed a SFD today as I was organised for once. Being heavily pregnant opens me up to cutting corners & buying !!!!. Only got playgroup 2moro (free as a helper) & staying in all afternoon to wait for decorators to come round for quotes. I'm so excited as since beginning my debt free journey, weare being productive in all areas of our lives.
Anyway, hope everyone has had a nice day & hugs for anyone who needs them xxTOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -
Hi all
Today was another SFD:). I had a craving for chocolate and was tempted by the vending machine but a customer brought in a box of chocs and I snaffled 2 which hit the spot and stopped me spending money.
Tomorrow will be a spend day as I usually get a takeaway with OH.
I'm saying this quietly as I checked my budget again and if I manage really carefully I think I can make the final debt payment this month instead of next. Fingers and toes crossed:D0 -
Quick check in - been to the shops and mr Morrison you came up trumps - Lamb, pork joints, sausages, pork ribs - heaps for about £7 - and I managed to get it all in the freezer which was the biggest miracle!!
Have also foraged this evening - my first trial of elderflower champagne in the toy trug doing its thing (I hope). Free alcohol - whats not to likeIf it kills us we will die happy:D
Love to all,
LAGL xx
PS Munchin - final payment - get your badge and earn your stripes!! Exciting timesDebt free on the 28/05/130 -
MORNING ALL!!!.............:j:j:j
Confession ; - I bought Vintage Life magasine yesterday as I had to get a card for my Aunt and Uncle who have both got out of hospital today for separate bouts of cancer..#badkittykat.
I bought a pre-planned for hair dye while I was at it to get it out of the way since I had already spoiled an SFD...
Also forgot my phone today which means I am walking around limbless...:rotfl:
Have realised I still have that £155 credit note for a vintage store in London to spend.. might have to treat myself to a pretty dress or two...
Mr Cobes - you should have been prepared with a teddy, card and such like...(typical boys leave it to the last minute.:rotfl:..) but since you are welcoming a new bundle I will let you off this time and only this one SFD...:)
Lotti.. how are you paying for this trip..? Am I having a thick moment here... when is the holiday and are you planning on accruing the £100 monthly fee to your Mother to pay for it - will you have enough time..?
Happy - do it do it do it! You do not need an overdraft - you will have a new frame of mind about it all... and you won't want to ever dip into it again...!!! YEAH!!!
RagstoRiches - Brilliant story!...what is the powderd milk like. I was thinking of trying it once as the running out of milk used to traumatise me.. now I don't need it but always curious if it had a weird texture. However the more I read about the milk the less I ever think I would touch it again.... No raisons in your hair then..?
....Right I shall be back before the end of the day to poke around and see what you are all up to....“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0
