Hi,
My husband has wrote to Halifax asking for a statement of his charges he enclosed a 10 postal order for them, anyway to cut it short we received a letter a polite letter from local branch refunding the postal order and saying that they have ordered the bank charges, my husband rang to see where they had got to they told him he would have them by june 18th hahaha they not here.
The 40 days are up end of this week, what happens if the 40 days are up and still no statements ???
Anybody any ideas please?

Hi,
can anyone advise? Wrote to ABBEY in february, asking for statements/ charges details. Apparently they lost our new address, so had to prove who i am, then they sent (end of april) list of charges covering two years, with a promise of rest in seven days! Have phoned several times, and have reported to Information Commissioner. Have even written to Abbey's Director responsible for complaints. Still no info!! What's even more worrying, is they say they have closed our account as it was in overdraft, but we left money in it when we moved to France!! They haven't even sent any explanation for this either! Any help, please?0 -
Contact the Information Commissioner <-click here and do it on-line
Its amazing how fast they respond!!
I had the same problem with Abbey - it got up to 85 days after my first letter and so I contacted the Information Commissioner and they responded within a week! Dear Loz,
Thanks everso for your reply, but i'm afraid i've already tried that. Sent to Information Commissioner two weeks ago, and told Abbey that I had done so! Still no luck!! s'pose i'll just have to ring I.O. to chase it up!!

Hi to all,
This is my first post so if its in the wrong place please be gentle. I sent a letter to HBOS ( Halifax bank of scotland) on the 20th of april requesting my statements with the £10 cheque enclosed. I recieved a letter from HBOS stating that they were very busy with similar requests and would have my statements within i think it was 40 days, about 52 days later i phoned on 11-06-07 and spoke to a nice lady and told her the story above that i still had'nt recieved my statements, she replied saying there was no record on their computer about issuing me with statement so thats why i hadnt recieved them, but unfortunatley for them i had a letter with reference number and signature from them telling me they had recieved my request as mentioned above, so the lady on the phone said she would have my statements rushed out and i would have them by that Friday 15-06-07. you'll never guess what IM STILL WAITING. Is there anything i can do to give them a kick up the backside and get them to give me my statements ASAP.
By the way what a great site and thankyou to all for the wealth of information here0 -
Hi all!
Latest news from Information Commissioner:
Phoned yesterday to check progress on my complaint, the poor girl said they're so busy that tey're currently dealing with complaints dating back to February!!! So perhaps I'll get my statement of charges from Abbey in time for Christmas!0 -
Hi Mr Boombastic,
I had similar problems with HBOS for my statement request. I sent it 28th FEB was sent recorded signed for and was received 1st march and signed for.
They were due to arrive 9th April (40days) on 12th April they arrived but they were someone elses (completely different roll number to me) I complained and also contacted the Ombudsman I rang HBOS to say that Ihad contacted the Ombedsman three weeks ago about a week later my details arrived I sent the first letter straight back then last wed they sent me the usual rejection letter and I rang them the same day to ask for it to be reassessed this week on Monday I rang 01977627310 I asked (politely) if there was any chance it could be looked at more quickly the guy said no problem and I should have an offer by the end of the week I thanked him and today offer arrived £468.50 half of my claim I phoned and spoke to them said I was not happy and explained why I asked for full amount and they have agreed to pay up I am exstatic I thanked them for their speed and told them I was really impressed with them because two weeks is really good considering what some people have to go through.
I would say its hard but try not to blow your top with them they respond so much better to politeness so ring again and try and reason with them drop into the converstion casually about the ombudsman and the information commisioner see where it gets you but don't blame the person on the other end of the phone personally for the !!!! up.

I hav'nt heard another thing from either the bank or the ICO!!!!! Can anybody help? In the last letter from the Halifax it stats, ' if you have any difficulties accessing the info please let me know' there isn't a phone number to contact her. What should i do, i is three months since my first letter, i would be grateful for any ideas if you have come across this problem or, know what to do next.
