  • *******Merry Christmas***********

morning ladies, merry Christmas to you all, hope you are all safe from the bad weather.

congratulations amy, I am so glad she is here safely and hopefully you will be home soon to celebrate Christmas with your new addition.

TL - I am exactly the same, I ready your post and then got up to make a brew and my journey from the sofa to the kitchen was met with 'wind' every step I took!!!! I was laughing to myself, thinking about your post. My wind is mainly south, I have never been a burper, thou I am having a few burping sessions that my DH would be proud of lately but that could be all the fizzy pop I have had recently from work parties to meals out etc.

today - I have a midwife appointment at 1115, really don't fancy the 5 minute walk (or 10 min waddle) to the doctors as it is quite windy (weather sort!!) hope I don't get caught in any rain. Need to talk to my MW about my hip pain, I can hardly sleep for more than 3-4 hours now, I go to sleep fine, but when I wake up, the pain is just too much to fall back asleep. I have read a lot about it the last few days and have tried different positions - with a body pillow, without pillow, with a smaller pillow, tried propping myself up and sleeping, I already have a memory foam mattress (another forum advice), I have also tried stretching before and after and also trying to keep my hips and ankles parallel throughout the night....still got sore hips and struggle to walk first thing in the morning. I suppose I will get the normal 'its just one of those pregnancy things' response.

on a good note, my little man has been moving so much lately, I have no idea what he was doing last night, he was either playing a football match or competing in the 100meter sprint!! The movement was mad! In the end I had to 'tell him off' after a good 45 minutes of trying to get to sleep. Didn't listen to me....hope its not a sign of things to come!! lol

after my MW appointment, my little sister is popping round, she lives in Bristol and last night spent the evening with her in laws in Crewe and as I am not too far away she is visiting me and we are going out for lunch, I haven't seen her since August when I officially announce my pregnancy and even though I speak to her most days and have been sending her pics of my bump etc its not the same as actually being in the same room as me and she is really excited to become an aunty. :-)

also my DH has manage to take leave on Sunday, he was working a night shift and as Sunday is our family Christmas day (parents on holiday...arrive home Saturday morning) we would have had to leave straight after dinner for him to go to work....now he is off we can stay and enjoy the evening with my parents like we would normally do on Christmas day. so happy, meant a lot to me, I just hate his work place as they always leave holiday requests to the last minute.

hope you all have a lovely Christmas,

    Congratulations Amy!!

I've an emergency doc appointment today, have had a cold all week which in itself was manageable but it's now got into my chest, I have mild asthma but very rarely need inhalers so much so that I can't find any!! I've to go over and be seen as I changed doctors when I became pregnant , old ones were useless, so my new doctors can't prescribe without seeing me. Fair enough.

They also told me my previous doc haven't sent over my medical history !!! Which isn't great as I also have spondylitis and joint problems which although are lying low ATM, could come into the equation at any time as I've never been pregnant before ...grr

On a happier note I am looking forwards to tomorrow.

Merry Christmas to you all x

The midwife who did our parentcraft classes said to sit on the birthing ball of an evening to help get baby in the right position as sitting on a couch hinders that due to the position your hips would be in. She explained it properly and it made sense at the time but it's hard to explain without visuals lol so I don't think you have to necessarily do anything on the ball, it's just a better posture to get baby facing the right way and head fully down on your cervix to make for an easier birth
Physio said that to me yest too x

Hi, ladies can I join? I am due 5th Feb with my first baby - a little boy. I finish work next week - so only 5 more shifts left (not that I'm counting down... :D)

We are in the process of buying a house so although we have most things for the baby, I am hoping he doesn't arrive early as I need to sort the house out first!
  • Hello Ladies,
    Congrats Amy, lovely name.
Been for my 1st physio session this morning- got a support belt now but feel like I've been battered after the assessment.
Nearly passed out doing the big xmas food shop yesterday- combo of pain and it being so warm in the shop.
Strange to think that this christmas will be the last one where there is just us 2 to think about and sort.

Hi all, life has taken a strange turn for me, on Sunday morning I called maternity triage for their advice as baby's movements seemed to have reduced over the past few days, they told me to come in to listen to heart beart, went in, heart beat was fine but they referred me to the day unit to be hooked up to a CTG machine for an hour, I thought all was well but they seemed to be concerned and said I'd have to have a steroid injection in case baby needed to be delivered the next day, that shocked me!

Had the injection at 4pm and they told me to come back at 8am the next morning for the 2nd steroid injection but then I was told that I would need to stay overnight for monitoring. It was all happening too fast..... they got a bed for me in the maternity ward, I didn't sleep a wink all night, at 4am I got the 2nd injection.

At 8am I was told I was nil by mouth and might have the c-section that day (Monday). I was put on the labour ward in my own room, hooked up to a saline drip and the sounds of ladies giving birth around me, very surreal when you think you have 8 weeks to go!

I met the anaesthetist, the paedietrician consultation, the surgeon, the neo-natal midwife, all so lovely, but me and hubby were in shock at how things were turning out, we could hardly believe what was happening.

I had a scan which showed that baby has grown 7oz since last Wed but the amniotic fluid has reduced slightly, not sure why and this might account for reduced movements.....the surgeon saw the scan and decided that I didn't need an emergency c-section but would need to stay in hospital til Friday for 4 hourly monitoring.

I got taken to another part of the ward with ladies in later stages of pregnancy than me, but with their own complications. I cried alot and thought all sorts of awful thoughts and snapped at my dad when he came to visit and was bouncing on a yoga ball and laughing when the nurse was asking me lots of questions but calmed down after.

Last night I slept for 5 hours and woke up at 3.30am and at 6am the baby was monitored again, the consultants came round at 8am and said that we are taking it one day at time and baby will probably come in the next few days, it is so strange that my child who was supposed to be born in Feb 2014 could arrive in Dec 2013! I've got 2 weeks off work, supposed to go back on 6th Jan but could be a mum by then!

Baby is only 3lbs 3oz approx so will need to stay in neo-natal unit for a few weeks apparently. I'm so scared but the hospital team all seem to be so great, I just have to put my life and baby's life in their hands and hope for the best.....

They've let me come home for a few hours so I've cleaned the flat, done a few loads of washing and will go back soon, will update when I can.

Merry Christmas and good luck all...

Oh my Jox, I really do hope you and baby will be ok, hopefully lots of monitoring and baby will improve/ be happy in mums tummy for quite a few more days.....I am only a few days behind you and there is no way I am ready for this baby yet...I too would be in total shock too.

I was told at my MW appointment this morning that baby is currently breeched but lots of time to turn yet......DH is so scared bless him, he really does not want me to have a section (neither do I) and trying to tell him there is time to move is like talking to a brick wall!!!!! 3 weeks ago baby was head down but he doesn't seem to remember this! Men!

    Jox....thinking about you. Xx
