Today was a busy day and I had my first growth scan which mercifully went really well and baby is measuring comfortably within dates which is such a relief.

I was given some more info about my induction today and it all sounds very intense. Throughout I will be very closely monitored and bed bound with my baby likely to go to special baby care straight away. Not ideal but a means to an end and I am glad they have spelt out what could happen so that I am not having to process things at the time.

That's lovely news. Well done baby Rummer for growing well.

Are you being induced before 37 weeks? Or does your baby have another reason to need to go to SCBU? xx

Lily the worry for my baby is that he will grow too well as I have gestational diabetes. Ideally I will be induced no earlier than 38 weeks however if he grows too large or there are other complications then he may need to come earlier. Special baby care may be required to stabilise and monitor his blood sugars after birth.

Initially I found the thought of induction and special baby care overwhelming however I have been given plenty of time to think it over and get my head round things.

Ohh, I'm sorry, I must have missed that. I don't use this thread enough!

I can see why you are so pleased he is normal then. Perhaps you could ask him to donate some of his potential extra growth to my little squirt :o

  • My due date is fast approaching now (Mon) and all I can think of is size!!
I still can't believe they aren't bothered about me going overdue this time, when last pg they were very concerned & had me a section booked.

Are girls smaller than boys? Or is that another pregnancy myth?

I can't imagine going through another failed natural birth ending in an emergency c-sec! :-(
Can't even see how I'll cope with a c-sec at all with a nearly 2 trying to jump all over me!

Baby feels giant! I just know it! Will I beat my 'high score' of 9lb4oz! :-(

Also had my head down the toilet tonight :-(

    (Moan, moan, moan!)

I bought some of this today from Tesco because it has been so highly recommended. I saw it was cheap on Amazon, however, if like me you have clubcard points, you can use a fiver of points to get a £10 boost token, thus making it equivalent to five pounds on Tesco (instead of £9.99).
Never put tables and chairs in the same room.
If they congregate together for any length of time, they will inevitably hatch plots against you and your pets.

How big are they estimating? I seem to make giant babies, but don't have GD, & me & OH are small build.

What are the effects on baby after birth if you have GD? Or does it wear off?

Lily Please post if you feel it will help, everyone needs a place to talk through their pregnancy.
    What she said ^^^
  • What are the effects on baby after birth if you have GD? Or does it wear off?
Because the mother is likely to have had higher than average blood sugar levels, the baby's body will be used to dealing with high blood sugar so after they are born when the supply of sugar in the blood is suddenly cut off there is potential for them to have a large drop in blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) before their body adjusts to the change.

Half of pregnancy seems to be embarrassing.

As embarrassing as piles :(I just feel so embarrassed/ ashamed. Never had it in my life, even during or after my last pregnancy. If DH tells me one more time its caused from straining from going to the loo/ poor diet I will smack him as I've actually been eating v well and not straining! Argh!

Thanks kscarlet and all the other lovely ladies for their Joshua comments. I'm doing amazingly well considering I had a difficult back to back birth, thank you. Discharged today from midwifery care, Joshua 10 days old and is very happy & healthy. I've only got 2kg to lose to be pre-pregnancy weight although I believe the b00bs weigh more than that lol. Bf going very well - did try expressing to give b00bs a break and to allow hubby and daughters to feed him but Joshua got sick afterwards so have stuck to just bf. been out and about everyday to at least have a walk and fresh air - love pushing Joshua in his carrycot.

How much longer do you have left? Must only be a couple weeks now? Exciting! Do you have your bags ready? Lol. Hope you're feeling ok and not in the 'urgh is it over yet' heavily pregnant phase! Xx
I am so pleased you are doing ok :) with your little miracle :D well done on weightloss!! I am glad BFing is going well for you, and good for you getting out everyday (I must make sure I do this!) xx I've got less than 2 weeks left! Bag is partially ready just need to sort clothes for going home/ add in more toiletries then I am finished. It took me over an hour just to choose which sleepsuits to pack :rotfl: x

OneTree she is beautiful! So much hair! x

Aw Lily we are all here for you xx

Hugs Rummer about the induction info I hope you are feeling ok x yay for painted nursery and tiny baby clothes though! I am working my way through washing size 0-3 months now so many cute things! x

Hugs Moneysaving xx I think girls tend to be smaller but my baby feels huge, bigger than my son @ 7lbs (unless theres a massive amount of fluid in there!) I am hoping no bigger than 8lbs as I have lots of newborn clothes I want her to wear! x
