    37 weeks today.

Really hoping I'm in the October club - the sooner the better now. Well actually not as OH is working away until Thursday so not until then. I have asked () him to not have any more overnight stays away after this. His initial response was 'why?'. Sometimes I just give up!

I had the flu jab last week. I'm asthmatic so have it every year so it wasn't something I needed to think about.

Last of 4 NCT classes last night. Our formal get together isn't until mid December!!! I have said I will e mail the group to have a girls lunch get together sooner than that (probably pre most babies).

  • Just had a great email from kiddicare confirming a price match, thought I'd share.

Fisher price kick & play piano gym = £56.99 at kiddicare.

    However at toysrus it's £44.45.

The price match + the 25% off the difference = paying £41.43.

First time I have ever price matched with them, it works with paying full price first but they confirmed the difference of £15.56 would be refunded within 3-5 days. I just had to email them back with my order number.

Must admit it took all of about 10 mins yesterday searching online to find it cheaper and I just jotted down prices when I did find it cheaper, well worth the time. A saving is a saving no matter how small.

I'm sure I speak for us all when I say "us lot" welcome you in to our October club with open arms :)

More seriously - Hugs for not getting a Sept baby, must be frustrating after so long with that date in your head. Just think, October babies have those few more days to make friends at school before their birthday party invites go out ;)

Thank you, that really made me :)

Midwife check up this morning. All was fine and got some new doctors surgery recommendations to look into (our nice gp left and we can't stand the one that's still there :o I don't trust him with my own health really, never mind that of my baby :o). I asked if she'd listen for the heartbeat and she said no, explaining some guff about not being able to feel where baby was prior to 28 wks... Then she measured me (27cm) and decided she could feel exactly where bubs was...wanders off to the desk, comes back and puts a pink plastic horn to my belly to listen through?! Dh said afterwards that he wanted to ask if it was an actual medical instrument or just some leftover packaging :p So, alas we didn't get to hear it  I don't mind too much cos I feel him/her moving loads, but I know dh loves it :)

She went over the flu + whooping cough vaccines and I'm booked in with the nurse for them, but for the same day, which is just not going to happen! No way can my body take two shots at once. Especially not if they won't do them in the same arm so I can still sleep on one side :p Couldn't be bothered to argue with the receptionist today though, she's a right sour puss :p

Also booked in for the "parentcraft class" (is it just me that rolls my eyes at that name?:o) and breastfeeding workshop. I don't really want to go to either, truth be told, but I know dh will feel better having been to the (roll eyes) "parentcraft" one. I'm very tempted to cancel the breastfeeding one though, not that I'm not planning to try it, but just because I feel informed enough already and I just know I'll be sat there uncomfortable and bored. :o Tbh I feel like there's more point to them a week or two after you've given birth, when you can ask what you're actually struggling with rather than just hypothetical scenarios you've forgotten all about when actually it gets to the so-stressed-out-cos-it's-not-working stage...

Hope bubs makes an appearance soon, continualdiamond - I do like that mine's due 8th Jan, cos at least even if it goes over it'll still be Jan. I'd feel very weird, I think, if I has to mentally adjust to February all of a sudden... :o

    Welcome over Mincepie

Can I ask a quick question...

I think I may know what is going on, but just guessing - so if anyone knows better or has had/is having the same experience would be good to get some confirmation that I'm not going loopy.

My bump has gone very "bouncy" and soft in the section under my ribs now, especially when I stand up (I have a relatively short body for my height, so when I sit down the bump is pretty much covering everything).
Is this likely to be because the baby has moved positions/dropped/in the process of dropping...? He is still very active, and every now and again likes to kick me in the bottom of my ribs, darling that he is. Just feels odd to have a bouncy soft patch where there used to be a bum... (baby's bum, I'm no contortionist).

Any comments would be greatfully received, 13 days until I see my midwife, but obviously if it all goes spongy in the meantime I'll seek medical advice...

    Thanks :)
  • BabaMoose it's usually just that the baby is starting to move down into the pelvis, I remember the relief I felt when DD did that at a similar stage to you (36 weeks): I felt like I could finally breathe again! They do tend to pop in and out for a while before they properly engage though - especially if you have a few weeks to go. On the downside it will make you need to wee lots again lol! Hope that helps. x

Yeah I'm not ready for him to permanently evict himself, so if he wants to float around for a bit that is OK with me... as long as I know what he is up to.

Ahh, the age old 'breathe' or 'pee' dilemma.
