There was a giveaway on the Fisher Price website a few weeks ago. I totally forgot about it, but received one of these in the post yesterday http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fisher-Price-X2915-Lions-Mane-Mirror/dp/B005QUQC6K
I'm gonna put it away for her Christmas stocking so she has a few little things to open with a few little thingsI did have to wrestle it away from DD1 who really liked it too!
I think there might be some left as I just looked on their website http://www.fisher-price.com/en_GB/Overjoyed/index.htmlGot married 13/11/10

Well more excitment this week, little one didnt move as much friday night despite me trying everything even ice lollies, so I called labour ward and we ended up going down about 2am for monitoring.
We were on monitoring for about a hour she was moving loads (typical) but at one point she moved a lot and the heart trace disappeared off the screen and the trace was very disjointed, so they checked with the registar who decided to keep me in for the night! They thought she might have moved and perhaps sat/pressed on the cord causing the break so they decided to keep me in.
I stupidly didnt bring a bag with me and I didnt want oh to have to travel home and come back again at that time of the morning so I ended up just sleeping in a gown, moral is bring a bag next time! Think its time we loaded the car with the bags in case!
Didnt get a bed on the ward until 5am and I hadnt been to sleep before then so to say I was shattered was a under statement.
Was remonitored again in the morning and all was ok, they said the trace from the night before probably happens to a lot of women but its not always picked up because they dont have such regular monitoring, im hoping it was just a case of that.
Was an eye opener in the morning though in my hospital, 3 other ladies on the ward with me. Looks like all 3 had come in to be induced, 2 were over 42 weeks but were still on the anenatal ward as the labour ward was full so all booked inductions had been placed on hold and these ladies had been in since thursday! Sounds like they had been given somthing to start them off like a pessary? But nothing more so they were contracting but not enough/regular.
The other lady on the ward had started induction again with the pessary I think but her baby had started getting stressed so they stopped that and decided to do a c section, but while we were there she was told that it was not safe to give her a c section that day (saturday) as there werent enough staff upstairs included anaesthetists to carry out the op and it would be the same today! So she was looking at least monday if not longer!
It just seems really terrible, there were talk that all the babies were the result of christmas, (like that was an excuse), that a midwife had collapsed upstairs because she hadnt eaten and that community midwives from about 45 mins away had to be drafted in as well!
It really didnt fill me with confidence if we have to go in.

In my experience you'll find it cheaper online. When I went I was looking for the Uppababy Vista or the M&P Sola and there was 10% off the Sola and nothing off the Vista, but it did mean I could have a play with the Vista as it was very new and not in many shops. You can price match online/in store as well so I would say online is the way to go
ICandy don't sell online sadly - you have to go to a specialist retailer. I've been quoted a very good price for what I want by a local shop (i actually think he's priced it all up wrong!) but just wondered if the babyshow might be the place to pick up an ex-display for a knockdown price, or whether they just give really good discounts. It's quite a lot of money as opposed to just a couple of hundred quid.
From what you said it doesn't sound like they would give
Me the discount i'm after so maybe I won't go. OH will be thrilled! Lol.14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
Cleo - I can see why that doesn't fill you with confidence. Non-emergency inductions always sit behind women in labour or needing emergency sections etc. You get a space on labour ward when one is available and that could mean a long wait. Do you have any other options for delivery?14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130

I think it depends, when I went in to have DD1 the midwifery led labour ward was empty when I first went in, they ended up sending me home as I wasn't far enough along. When I went back the next day there was 1 lady in having her baby. It was quite relaxed as you could see that some of the midwives had only just started their morning shift and were sat around having a quick brew, but I guess it just depends on luck. Btw this is in Cardiff and I don't think there are any other places nearby with labour wards. I don't know what the consultant led ward was like, they might have been totally chocker!Got married 13/11/10

I don't think you can ever say TBH, it's no secret the NHS are understaffed, especially on the maternity units and it does seem to be the luck of the draw as to how busy they are when you go in. Suppose its like this thread where there doesn't seem to be any babies for a few weeks and then loads arrive at once!
I think September is one of the busiest periods (all the Xmas/new year babies). It was certainly the case when I had DS1, the woman next door to me in the assessment room apparently ended up giving birth in there as there were no beds left on the labour ward, and there appeared to be no spare beds on the ward once I had had him. DS2 was born in April and it was much quieter.0 -
Morning ladies.
Just nipping on to ask about the baby show. I was planning on going in a few hours but only really want to see the iCandy stand to see if they can better the price I have already been quoted for what I want. Are the discounts generally much better than elsewhere or am I likely to be wasting my time? It's quite a long way to go if I am only going to be disappointed!

Hi,
I wasn't looking for a pram/travel system etc. so unfortunately I wasn't paying that much attention to their prices. In terms of things that were there generally I wasn't drawn into buying anything though because I didn't think any of the discounts were *amazing*. I think the discounts were generally 10-15% off if you bought there and then (but that was the smaller items I was looking at).
I know there was a good range and if you wanted to go try a few out then that would probably be worth it... but if it was all you were going for I wouldn't necessarily recommend a long journey to get there... We were there for an hour at the most but we only live about an hour or so away and used the excuse for lunch out and the Trafford Centre shopping too.
However if you do go - I'd recommend parking in the Trafford Centre and walking across the walkway instead of queuing for hours to get in the carpark by Event City (if you don't mind a 5min stroll).0 -
Just ordered my mothercare xpedior travel system. Managed to get it for £212 delivered as there is 15% off until tomorrow!DS born November 2013 :smileyhea0

Argh just need to vent. I don't know if its hormones or what but I could easily kill my OH at the moment. I must be nesting as I've never been interested in housework, actually I still hate it but feel a burning need to do it!
Its not the easiest of tasks being 36 weeks and full of cold, bending is a massive struggle, I get out of breath and tired very easily. I spent yesterday scrubbing the house and it looked nice and sparkly clean so why does OH insist on messing it up almost straight away. It's mainly the kitchen that drives me insane. Why he can't put dirty dishes at least near the sink I don't know and how does the floor and entire kitchen end up covered in bread crumbs? What on earth does he do with bread when making a sandwich? Throw it around the kitchen?
I'm now seriously contemplating returning to work full time and allowing him to be the stay at home parent so he can deal with all the housework then maybe he will see how infuriating it is!!
It's taking all my energy not to hit him. Are OH's always annoying at this stage!?0 -
