Ooooo nutshell good luck!! How exciting :) welcome newbies!

Jessi - I've had pains down in the lady parts as if baby is going to fall out at any moment also very swollen, think its just the pressure and increased blood flow, if you are concerned ring the midwife

Cheryl - OH hated most of my names and I hated most of his but we have finally decided and settled on a name which we both love :) you'll find one when you least expect it, one of the names I thought OH would hate he actually really liked lol

Feeling very pregnant now keep getting Braxton hicks which I've never really had with my other 2, been doing lots of nesting which although is good really does take its toll

Hope everyone is ok though wonder how Oscar got on.

Hi Cheryl - welcome :) I've got a massive age gap between number 1 & 2 too but it's a bit like riding a bike I think, everything comes back.

Re the name, at 27 weeks you've got loads of time so I wouldn't worry too much just yet. We have a very likely name for our chap but DH's parents have made it very clear that they absolutely hate it. Mostly I just think stuff them he's our child but I do have moments when I wonder if it's fair on him.

Re the school issue, I hope I haven't offended anyone. I know lots of people have been the youngest in the year and have been absolutely fine. For me personally though I think there's a lot more to childhood and learning than formal school and I think the ability to read and write from a very young age doesn't really have any impact on their future achievement. It's just my personal opinion though and something that does concern me but doesn't mean it should concern anyone else!

Been to Ikea today - completely wiped out now. Can't stop eating either! Not feeling in any way birthy today like I was yesterday so think it probably was just my body relaxing

I have had two kids who were born late July and August. If i had my time again I would have sent them to school a year later, as you are entitled to. They were both not ready and have struggled. It had taken them an extra couple of years this end (18/19) to get the qualifications they needed for their futures and I do wonder if they had been in the next school year they would not have struggled so much.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Hi all,

Can I join the list please? I'm due my third baby on 27th August. Don't know the sex.

Re names, really struggling with boys and girls names at the moment, wish that I hadn't chosen favourite middle names for my other two girls as that could have been first names if this one is a girl.

The boys names we had previous times (didn't find out the sex then either) I've gone off. Oh doesn't care about names, and won't even discuss so that's annoying. Last time he got an American phone ap and was reeling off random names that really wound me up.

As for pains I've been having them the past week and can't remember having them before - probably did can't remember.

Since I got my due date I've always known I'm borderline for schools but it doesn't bother me, I've got an Oct 3rd and a July baby and Oh and myself are summer born too so it's not an issure for us. I actually worry more about older in the year as I started my periods at 9 in year five and felt a right freak.

I always planned, well I say planned as much as someone can for a September baby rather than a summer baby. I know most summer baby mums will argue the toss, but I thing being an autumn baby does make it a lot easier for when they go to school. They are more developed and should have more skills so school should be easier and less of a shock.

My brother and sister are both September babies and found school fairly easy, I was Jan and I didn't struggle at all. We all got good qualifications. I'm not saying summer babies can't do well, but why not try and make life easier for them from the start?

Plus when they get to 17/18 they can be the first to drive and the first to go out drinking!! lol!

Sarahevie I started my periods at the same time. I developed early boobs and period wise, I didn't really feel a freak. That is just down to genetics though I doubt it has much to do with being a summer/autumn baby as I had some friends who didn't start until 16 so the few months either side I don't think would have made much difference.

Horrible nightmare last night is making me reluctant to fall asleep tonight. How childish that sounds, DH has promised to fend off any blue haired alien ghosts that try to possess me tonight ;) Very far fetched story but believe me it seemed so very real! :o
Have been enjoying watching our baby make my belly jump about with DH instead ;) Still very tired now so must sleep. Fingers crossed my dreams will be more peaceful tonight;)

I was born in July and was absolutely tiny compared with the rest at school, right the way through! I was always one of the higher achieves in primary school but went to a very academic secondary school where I struggled to keep up with the others at times. Still, I went on to Uni and got my degrees. So it didn't do me harm as such but I'm hoping my little one hangs on till her due date at the beginning of Sept to avoid some of the downsides of being the youngest!

Fluffy sox, poor you with the bad dreams! Hope you had no more last night.

Going to finish packing my hospital bag today and attemp to finish unpacking in the spare room at the new house!

    Good luck Nutshell.

I have big age gaps too; our girls are 16 & 9. First baby at 20.....now I'm 37. Massive difference in energy between both too.

I'm a July baby and have done well for myself. In my opinion, I think it depends on each child; some children are ready for school earlier than others. Our girls are summer babies and both needed learning prior to reception. I swear by Montessori - girls loved it.

Little saver - tommee tipper breast pads 50 reduced to £3 in Asda from £4.69.

Agree with that, I think a lot of it largely is down to the child and also how willing that child is to learn. I was the youngest in my year and had only just turned 4 when I started school. I was never worse off than anyone else, got good GCSEs, A levels and degree.
Whilst I agree that being a younger one did have some disadvantages, I really do believe that if a child is not willing to put the effort in it doesn't matter if they are the youngest or the oldest they wont do well.

The only time it really annoyed me is when my friends could all go out drinking :rotfl: so academically had no affect on me.
Not trying to 'argue the toss' about it, just want people to see that it really isn't the end of the world to have a summer baby.
