Well the discs came today to make the recovery discs. I searched for recovery & a page come up. I clicked on recovery & it said start the recovery, which I thought meant start making the recovery discs.

Unfortunately it didn't mean that, it was doing a system recovery!. So I shut it down thinking it would stop the system recovery & when it was back on it said carry on with the recovery or cancel.

I canceled it & now I have a screen with a lot of writing on it which says:

Aptio setup utility - copyright (c) 2012 American Megatrends, Inc

then headers that say:

Sysinfo
Advanced
Security
Boot
Exit

Help I have killed her

Can you not just put the recovery disks in and start the recovery process again? not sure at what point the process was stopped so not sure if you can get your old stuff back or not.

What is the make of the laptop? There is hopefully a recovery partition on the Hard Drive which you can access.

I'd go for Exit and select No so it (hopefully) lets you out but doesn't save any changes.

Luckyone. First question, have you done anything since this screen appeared?

You appear to be in the bios setup utility so Boot will only give different boot options e.g. Hard drive, USB etc.

The Exit option ( by which I mean the Exit mentioned in your first post) is probably what is required (or we might just hold the power button down :) ) but need to know answer to question above first.

There should be indications probably on the right of the screen to show how to navigate through these screens like using the left and right arrow keys and up and down arrows or page up and down perhaps. No offence but is it all gobbledygook to you?

Edit: I see things have changed while I was putting my post together
