I thought Borderlands 1 was a very poor single player and not really worth bothering with, much of the game is very repetitive in terms of the missions, weapons, enemies and locations plus characters has very specific skills and weapon specialisations making it more difficult to have a solid all rounder. It was obviously designed for co-op and in that regards it's extremely good, the way the character skills and specialisations mesh together keep the game interesting.

Borderlands 2 is quite different in that I think it works well as a single player as there's much more variety in the weapons, enemies, environments etc. which make it a lot more fun when playing on your own. In the first game the elemental aspect was a minor part of the game but in the sequel, the elemental aspect is major part of it so you need to have a good variety of weapons to cover all the elements to make sure you're inflicting maximum damage. Furthermore in the first game each character had two gun types they were better with and the game rewarded you for sticking with the same game type, in the second game there's no weapons specialisations so you're encouraged to use a large number of weapons which makes the looting much more motivating.

i managed to find a few more do-able side missions which have made the missions i'm stuck on slightly easier but they are still too hard. upgrading weapons is difficult because there isnt much of any quality in the shop and your money runs out very quickly in this game due to having to top up your ammo constantly. another stupid thing is characters you have killed reappear. during a task where you collect tape recordings one is in the area where bonehead was and when i went to get it there he was alive again with his buddies. the stupidness of this game is even with a rocket launcher it can take several shots to kill someone.

To be fair, they reappear to be killed again, giving you more valuable XP that then levels you up to make the bits you're stuck on easier. Also, buying weapons from the shop is probably the worst way to get them ;) It's called shoot and loot for a reason!

Approach Borderlands like an RPG. The more time you put in, the better the rewards will be! It's a game that rewards you handsomely at random intervals with no prior warning. You just need to stick it out until you find the super shooter you're looking for.

If you can't spare the time to grind a bit, then the game probably isn't for you. The grinding doesn't stop and it gets pretty hard later in the game if you don't keep your level up. Hope it gets better for you though, I really loved it, the sequel even more so!

Brought out Prototype 2 from the Steam backlog. It's not bad. Well... it's not bad. It wants to be vaguely open and free, but it's very scripted and forced. They should have picked linear or free and run with it, instead of this middling mess.

Looks fine, and works out of the box with the 360 controller. Two hours in so far.

I've also been playing FTL every lunchtime for a month! Just relaxing in my spaceship for a half hour, learning the ins and outs of the advanced edition. I'm now trying to complete it on "Hard" with that artillery ship. Challenging! :D

AFAIK, killing enemies whilst in a vehicle nets you fewer XP than doing so on foot. Just fight your way back to previous boss areas and kill them all over again. You should get nice XP rewards and half decent loot for your level along the way :)

    Wolfenstein: New Order
  • I now only play DotA and CS 1.6. For me they are the best games of all time
  • Bit late to it, but just finished Alan Wake. Thought the ending was a bit of a let down though, bit too easy.

Currently playing Ryse on the Xbox One... Great game and graphics are something else!
Game play becomes a little repetitive but still fun nonetheless.

Watch Dogs next for me !
