That's why I never bothered with Borderlands...a lot of people loved it, a lot of people didn't get on with it. I did, however, really enjoy Rage and that was on a the referral of someone whose gaming I trust.

You tried Brink? Cheap throw away game which I enjoyed for a quick blast. Think you can pick it up for £2 now. Mixes Team Fortress with Rage.

Borderlands was oddly overrated. It's a fine game, but people confused it not taking itself seriously with "funny", and the decent loot system was hampered by OK shooting and a terrible console-geared interface.

Borderlands 2 really is quite a lot better. They seriously improved the shooting mechanics, added some humour, and the interface... well, here's hoping it's fixed for Borderlands 3!

Rage is an odd one. There's so much awful padding between the shooting bits. The shooting is good, but it didn't quite feel finished to me - the half-assed crafting felt like it was added at the last minute. I also wonder if it was a series of linear levels to begin with, and the dull outside driving-around and poor towns and forgettable NPCs were thought of halfway-through and crowbarred in. I found it largely forgettable - but a good base for an excellent Rage 2.

Rage was great shooting mechanics against smart enemies, pretty graphics, fun gameplay in general, married to a meh plot and the worst ending to a video game in quite a while. Could have been so much more.

I've just picked up xcom enemy unknown from tesco for £9 and now need to lose this stinking cold so I can play it.

I really enjoyed Rage, but you're right about that ending. It comes out of nowhere and the story just kind of stops, rather than resolves...

Just started on Wolfenstein The New Order this week and I've been really impressed so far. Much better than I was expecting it to be. Xcom's a real cracker, hope you enjoy it!

I had the same feeling when rage ended. I did love the experience despite the sudden ending.

Its funny as you get a short video which makes think this is the start of something big and then credits roll.

Doesn't sound like much fun to me, I would give up from what you say.

The thing with Borderlands is that while you can play it on your own its kinda designed to be played co-op. Maybe you can draft someone in to help you past (I think people can jump in and out if I remember right)?
