Should be able to pick up one of the 40/80gb fat PS3's for under £50 in Game if they have them in stock, people still have slightly unreasonable views on what their console's worth on Gumtree etc. (I almost required hospital treatment last week seeing someone trying to sell a second hand Wii on there for £200!)

    Get the DS4! :p

I don't want to buy a controller which costs the same as the console, I will say the DS4 is a massive improvement.

On further research I may be able to use my 360 controller on the PS3 with a cheap adapter, of course I will miss tilt but I don't care much for that.

I have to admit, I really didn't like FXXIII at all, and it was all to do with the battle system. It was like they tried far too hard and ended up making it really confusing. TBH, I really loved FFX, and I wish they'd do something along those lines with the battle system when you had to learn things like 'Holy' and 'Firegra' and what have you. the story was brill as well, although I cocked the whole thing up by not getting one of the Temple spheres earlier, and I then realised I couldn't get Anima. (Yojimbo was fantastic though)
Toying with the idea of getting the remastered one, but I don't know whether I should just get FFXIV instead. Decisions, decisions :)

I liked the battle system once I got into it in the first two of the FFXIII series, but this new revised battle system is very poor by comparison.

I downloaded the HD remasters of FFX and FFX-2 a week or so ago and it's brought it all back to me just how good they were. FFX particularly.

I played FFXI online for years and also toyed with the idea of getting into FFXIV but after I'd thought about how much I got into FFXI I decided it probably wasn't a good idea to get addicted to another MMORPG! :D

Depending on your circumstances, they can be had for £30. (I don't need one immediately, so I'm trying to hold out for £25 :D)

Edit: I'm also holding out in the hope that they'll fix the rotting sticks problem and squeaky triggers, of course!
Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.

Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.

Aren't they swapping controllers with the rotting sticks free of charge?

They were, but I'm not sure if they still are. Amazon still would, of course.

It's kerfuffle, though, isn't it. Get halfway through a game, lose the controller for a month, and then try to pick up where you left off. And it seems like someone who has been making controllers for decades would know to use rubber that doesn't flake off after a few dozen hours of thumb contact!

i dont want it to be hard. i am rubbish at games. i feared it would be too hard but thankfully it isnt. well not yet at least anyway. just got to the start of winter.
i didnt say it isnt that good. i said it isnt as good as people make out. if you look again you will see i said it is a very good game.

Regarding the hardness, that's fair. ND do tend to make their normal difficulties ok...then make Hard about right for how hard should be...and Crushing/Survivor the killer!

As for how good it is; that's what I meant ;) I think it is one of the greatest gaming achievements of all time.

i finished it. playing borderlands now. all i can say is i'm glad i didnt get the sequel at the same time, not impressed at all. its early days though so it may grow on me. the controls are awful, it got hard very quickly, no learning curve at all. its a bit boring. why the hell cant i change the difficulty setting? it feels like an inferior combination of bioshock and rage. oh and that robot is annoying.
