Hello ladies! Can I join you? Reading through this thread has made me slightly panicky - you all seem so far ahead!! We only got engaged in June so just under a six-month timeline for us in total. We're getting married on 22nd November :)

So far we've booked the church and minister, arranged for marriage prep (2:1, but we want to do some group ones as well), chosen the reception venue (my parents' garden), found a photographer, and arranged for hair and makeup. We've got someone to do the cake - just sorting out food with some foodie family friends. We haven't even begun to work on the invitations - but I'm not planning to send those til September.

I think right now we're both more worried about the moving house part than anything else!! My fiance has a 3br house to pack up (I'm in a share house) and then we have to find somewhere to live as well. We live an hour apart at the moment.

Anyway I look forward to hearing about everyone's progress :)

    Congratulations and welcome :)

You seem pretty organised all ready! Do you have a dress yet? If not, I would say that is the only major thing you have left to do, everything else is just decoration!

Are you having flowers at either of the venues? If so, these will need sorting pretty soon. November weddings are much easier to arrange quickly than summer weddings though, as suppliers are much more likely to be available.

I look forward to hearing how you're getting on - I'll have been planning for about 18 months by the time we get married and have found it pretty stressful, not sure I could have done it in 6 months! (Not trying to scare you by the way, I am naturally a bit of a worrier so I think I needed to spread the stress out over a longer period of time!)

Hello AnzacBiscuit! :) Great for you to join us :) Hope the move is going well - what a busy few months for you!!!!!

@Bean83 - hope feeling less panicky? I know what you mean about the to do list - we sent our invites in May which I know is ridiculously early - however we have only just started to send out evening invites and despite day people having a deadline of 2 weeks away, evening ones are coming back thick and fast - day ones? Still 1 quarter to go! Argh! Also, can't send some evening ones just yet as hoping can invite some people to day if people don't come but can't ask until we know for sure... surely people KNOW if they are intending to come or not?!?!?!?!?!

Rant over - forgive me :)

Less than 4 months now eeeeek!x

Much less panicky thanks!!! Ticked off most of the major things on my list now, the only things left are things that I can't do until nearer the time. Having said that my invitations still haven't gone out yet, but all I need now is for my fianc! to give me the addresses for some of his relatives and then they're good to go! Can't believe it's left than 4 months away - what am I going to do with myself once it's all over?!
  • *waves hello to Anzac Biscuit* Welcome to the thread! I'm very impressed with your level of organisation, I was nowhere near that sorted with six months to go :) As Bean says though I think other than dress and flowers (if you're having them) it sounds like you're pretty much there.

    Hi Anzac Biscuit & welcome.
I have been chasing my bridal shop he last week as they said my dress would be ready in June for my fitting. They rang me today to say that unfortunately the order had got lost by the company making the dress & that it would now be late September before the dress would be with them. Feeling a little bit stressed. Every one else in the house has their outfits now except me!

  • Thanks everyone!

Yep, still to sort out my dress - just need to get someone to help me with measurements I think. I'm buying it online - would rather spend my money on other things, lol.
Flowers at the church are included; and I've been in touch with the florist about bouquets. I don't think we need any others. (Should have mentioned - I'm in Australia so November is peak season, he he).

I've been trying to sort out the wording for our invitations today. What does everyone think about including RSVP cards? We weren't going to - but I'm beginning to think they might be a good idea, at least to sort out dietary requirements etc!

I've put RSVP cards in my invitations, as I think it encourages people to reply more promptly! I've also included stamped addressed envelopes to make it super easy :) I have a space for dietary requirements too.

I think you might be right, babies might be the only thing to fill the void left afterwards - not sure what hubby-to-be will think of that though!
  • Those thinking of babies soonish - have you updated your health insurance? I know in Australia there is usually a 12-month waiting period for pregnancy cover stuff. We're planning to wait a year before trying but I just updated mine today so that we're ready to go when the time comes (and covered in case that time comes sooner than expected!) I just upped my level of cover as a single - will change to a couples' policy once we're married.

And is anyone thinking of making a will? or seeing a financial adviser to get advice on combining finances/planning for the future?

I am WISHING we had done that - less than a week to go until RSVP deadline and they are still trickling far too slowly - 20 people haven't even replied?! We have only just sent out evening invites (and can now ask a few more people to day) and have given a smaller deadline of a month.

@Anzac. We don't have to worry about health insurance here, unless you get private cover through work as a bonus. Saying that, OH going to put me on his health ins just in case!
Yes, also doing wills at some point - in the UK there is a month where some solicitors do "Willaid" donating reduced rate of money for will making to charity so think we will try and time it for then x

@Minerva - 99 days to go - we are in double digits!!!!
