November 2014 brides and grooms

November wedding here too in North Yorkshire.
Fairly smooth so far after getting engaged in January. All the main bits sorted (notice, venue hire, suits, dress, honeymoon, cake, photos, invites). The only major things to fix are the flowers and the wedding rings.
Only issues so far is the debate over the engagement ring (should it not be in the wedding budget - my fiancee says no) and the "wedding tax" where everything seems to cost 30% more when you mention the "w" word!0 -
Helloooo Snowball and Tiger!!!
Sounds like both very organised - can you believe only 7 months to go?!(Well and a bit)
I feel like we have been in a bit of a lull for a while with our wedding planning, but I guess when we start sending the invites...then it will all go nuts!!!!!!!!
Just had a fun day with my MOH choosing her shoes and a wrap, plus ordered a bolero for me - love the eba y !!!
Minerva I love the sound of your colour scheme...can't wait to hear how it turns out!!!!
Eeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!X:rotfl:0 -
*waves hello to snow_ball and TigerTanaka - great name by the way!*
I had a 'wedding week' last week - went to see the caterers and florists on Monday, which all went very well. We've picked our menu (soup, roast beef and sticky toffee pudding) and the flowers so now just have to confirm and put down deposits.
Then on Saturday I went dress shoppingHave to admit I was nervous about it as I didn't think I'd find any I liked, but actually I ended up struggling to choose! I have it down to two that keep coming back when I think about 'my wedding dress', trying to visualise myself walking down the aisle etc though so hopefully I'll be settled on one soon...
This week I need to email hair/makeup people, pull together some stationery ideas and settle on the cake. We didn't necessarily want a theme but as it's now potentially turning into 'polka dots' (based on one of my possible dresses and a ribbon we have for the stationery) I'm wondering about this one: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/three-tier_red_velvet_17795"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
So Minerva, did you narrow it down in the end?!
Cake looks brill! We have sat down and gone through our provisional guest list and organised "waves" of invites. We have a feeling several family members won't come but of course, until we send out the invites we won't know that for sure (obviously, we would love it if they did, but the cousins of my OH haven't seen him in about 13 years so we shall see. ) So family will be wave 1, plus some obvious friends, then we will see what numbers we have to play with for wave 2! Easter weekend job: making invites!!!!!:rotfl:0 -
Hi ladies,
Plans seem to have stalled this month - really need to get cracking again soon! Up to now I have mine and bridesmaids complete outfits sorted, venue booked, chosen the menu, booked registrar, organised the cake and I think that's it!
Really need to sort out evening entertainment, and I have also found a make-up lady I want to use so need to speak to her soon to see if she's available.
When is everyone sending out invitations? I was thinking June/July time but I don't want to be too keen and send them out too early!!0 -
Hi Bean! We were thinking June/July too! Just to give time for the people we have to chase up!
You sound very organised!!!! I think we are doing well ladies!:rotfl:0 -

I think so - there's one I keep coming back to when I visualise the wedding in my head, so I think I've decided!
Bean83 - we are hopefully sending out our invites in May/June, although people have been asking us about it since January! So I suppose you can never be too early...
Things still to sort:
Hair and makeup
Cake
Rings
OH to choose ushers
Buy ushers' shirts and ties
Bridesmaids' dresses and accessories - I have a possible pattern for the dresses which I will send them this week
My shoes and accessories
Readings/music for ceremony
I'm sure I'm forgetting something though!"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Would you mind if I joined in? I'm not getting married In November but 27th December but nobody else seems to be getting married in December so I feel a bit alone, lol!
I am also beginning to feel that I need to get a move on. I'm always a bit of a last minute person but I don't want to get caught out so am trying to get organised. Venue & dress sorted & photographer & DJ included in hotel package & hoping to sort my daughter's bridesmaid dress tonight. Sort of enjoying sorting out but also kinda wish somebody else would do it all for me & I could just turn up! Thanks ellesbelles.
I got my daughter's bridesmaid dress I'm happy to say. Ordered 6 dresses from Monsoon & got a lovely ivory one with silver & gold threading on it. Slightly more than I hoped to pay but glad it is sorted & another thing ticked off as not too keen on shopping. She still ays she is going to wear her Converse trainers with it but I have 9 months still to get her into some heels!Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0
