    How's everyone doing?
6 months to go for me now.
Cake & chair covers now sorted & invitations just about.
STILL need to sort flowers - note to myself to get a move on!
Got OH's suit, shirt, tie & shoes on Tuesday. I was more excited seeing him in a suit than I think I was for my own dress! He's very much a jeans & Tshirt sort of man but he looked so handsome, lol! I can't even really remember my dress tbh! I bought it 6 months ago & never took any decent photos of it & waiting for a call to say come for a fitting. Hope I still like it!
    Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan
  • My big thing is still the invitations. I've discussed with my mum and we are thinking mid July to send them so will go up and see her for a few days then to get them done. I also need to go and see my dad's cousin to check some samples and get measured for my dress so will try and combine visits as they don't live too far apart.

Other things still on the list:

Ceremony music. My mum is on at me to get a string quartet but it's going to be £400
Decide on music, readings and who's doing it and send forms back to the registrar
    Buy the rings
Ask my nephew to be the ring bearer
    My shoes/veil/jewellery
Dress for one of my bridesmaids
    Bridesmaids' accessories
    Presents for bridesmaids/best man/ushers/parents
Decide if we're having confetti or bubbles and order supplies
Order bags, tea and stickers for favours
    Make post box
Order fingerprint tree for guest book
Confirm starter and vegetarian option with caterer
Check with DJ when we need to let them know what songs we want, first dance etc
Get OH to buy his ushers' shirts and ties
Sort out train tickets for travel before the wedding
Ring up about fairy lights for the stairs in the venue

That looks like so much left to do and it feels like hardly any time to do it! I'm pretty confident it will all be sorted in time though...

Hahaha I was going to ask where you live as I play with a wind quintet and we usually tailor the price to the bride and groom's budget - but just remembered I am a little busy that day - and so are they as they are playing for us! Doh! However, do you have a local college/uni who you could ask if they have any students that would be interested? There would be chamber groups I am sure that would sound amazing!

I need to now do little details - summer hols soon though so plenty of time :)
    Jobs to do imminently
    - presents for key people
    -table decorations

4 months and a week to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

College/uni is a good idea, thank you! Though to be honest I only mentioned the string quartet because my mum is on at me to get one - we'd be perfectly happy with a CD player in the corner but she's doing the whole 'you have to have this because it's what you do at weddings'. I feel terrible saying no because she and my dad are very generously paying for the majority of the wedding, but I don't want them to spend their money on stuff we don't even want!

Sorry, I've only just seen this, should I be providing confetti (or alternative) then? I though guests brought their own?

Actually, it's all within the hotel so maybe I won't be able to have anything anyway?

Hadn't even thought of this! :rotfl:

We're providing our own - but it might be worth checking what's in your package. I've never brought confetti to a wedding (but know people who have), however there has usually been some provided by the couple.

    Hi ladies,

Just wondered how you were all getting on now it's only just over 4 months to go?!
I'm in a complete panic at the moment, can't see how I'm going to get everything done in time! I have all of the major things organised/booked, it's just all the little things like gifts for bridal party, final minor alterations to dresses, choosing ceremony music etc, etc. but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed today and was wondering if anyone else was feeling the same?

I'm right in the middle of making my invitations at the moment too, hopefully I'll feel a bit better once they're done and out the way as they are definitely adding to the stress levels!

I made the mistake of making a complete 'to do list' with absolutely everything that needs doing before the day, and looking at it is making me feel a bit sick :(

Hope everyone else is on track!!!

I have moments like that too and am also a list queen, so it can sometimes feel overwhelming. I felt much better once we got our invitations out, it felt like the main obstacle and now that's done everything is much calmer.

I'm not thinking about anything else (other than music) for a few weeks now. Things like dress alterations and table names etc (which are still on my to-do list) can be done much nearer the time. Has your to-do list got general due dates? I find this helps, I just filter out anything that's too far in advance for me to do now.

Thanks for your reply, I think adding dates to my list would help a lot as there are loads of things I can't do yet (table plan, hair/makeup trial etc.) so having them on the list is making me more panicky!

I think tonight I'll sit down and organise my list so it's in the order I need to do things in, then I can start working through them logically!

Managed to get a few things ticked off since I last posted so feeling a bit calmer today... Invitations are well on their way now too so should be able to start posting them out after the weekend.
  • Hello ladies! Can I join you? Reading through this thread has made me slightly panicky - you all seem so far ahead!! We only got engaged in June so just under a six-month timeline for us in total. We're getting married on 22nd November :)

So far we've booked the church and minister, arranged for marriage prep (2:1, but we want to do some group ones as well), chosen the reception venue (my parents' garden), found a photographer, and arranged for hair and makeup. We've got someone to do the cake - just sorting out food with some foodie family friends. We haven't even begun to work on the invitations - but I'm not planning to send those til September.

I think right now we're both more worried about the moving house part than anything else!! My fiance has a 3br house to pack up (I'm in a share house) and then we have to find somewhere to live as well. We live an hour apart at the moment.

Anyway I look forward to hearing about everyone's progress :)
