  • Similar jobs to Bean83 for me - I need to confirm with the guitarist who's doing our ceremony music, buy the rings, ask my sisters to do readings, confirm readings and music with the registrar, buy presents for people and have my hair trial. I need to speak to the photographer as well to see if we can do an engagement shoot and then get one of the pictures put into a frame we can ask guests to write messages on in place of a guest book. So still a fair bit to do, but I feel a lot more relaxed about it all now!

A very small pile of 3, but better than nothing!! We made it as easy as possible for people to reply as the RSVPs were accompanied by a stamped addressed envelope so they have no excuses! We speak to most of the people we invited on a regular basis so I know the vast majority are definitely coming, but I still want to get my RSVPs back so I can officially tick them off on my spreadsheet - think I'm getting a little obsessed... :)
  • HAHA I love my spreadsheets too!
Well, out of 60, we have had 8 replies to evening - with 8 days to go have a horrid feeling going to be chasing...

    10 WEEKS TO GO!!!!!!!!
    :rotfl:
  • I would be completely lost without my spreadsheets! We have two - one for guests and one for budgeting - and they have been absolutely invaluable.

Starting to get replies back now - have ten people confirmed so far plus family members. Not a huge amount I know but it's getting there! Especially considering the invites only went out last week and we've still got a month before we need them back...

Bought our rings this weekend and got a big photo printed for our 'guest book' - we want a photograph with space for people to write messages around as a traditional guest book would probably just end up shoved in a drawer somewhere and unfortunately it was a bit too expensive for our photographer to do it. My sisters also agreed to do a reading/be a witness which is good!

    Still to do:

Buy presents for mums, dads and siblings
Forms back to registrar (doing that this week)
Confirm menu choices with caterers (sorting this this week also)
    Buy wedding perfume
Buy wedding underwear (these two are payday jobs or whenever Debenhams has an offer on)
    Have a dress fitting
Keep practising make-up and book make-up artist if it turns out I actually can't do flicky eyeliner
Book manicure for day before wedding

Out of interest, what (if anything) is everyone doing for their hen party? Mine's two weeks on Saturday and we're going here: http://www.kettners.com/ for afternoon tea and crafting then out for cocktails. I can't wait!

  • Spreadsheets are the BEST - although ours now has so many tabs it is beginning to resemble a novel :)

We're still working on our invitations - my future bro-in-law is designing them. I'm getting keen to finalise and get them printed and sent - although I had always planned to send them out later.

We have my ring and have ordered his, and my dress has arrived!! It's safely concealed in my wardrobe, wrapped in a dressing gown :D It looks beautiful. Got it from Etsy so I was a little concerned I wouldn't like the feel - but it's lovely.

And I found two dresses to take on my honeymoon this week - one will be a 'going away dress' (we're leaving straight from the reception).

Music is almost totally finalised, and we've had our first marriage prep session - is anyone else doing that?

Still to do - find shoes, find bridesmaids' dresses, sort out what groomsmen are wearing after that. Invitations, finalise wedding registry. Food choices can be done later but it wouldn't be a bad idea to start thinking of that! We're planning to have lunch at the reception venue next month so we can suss it out properly (country pub).

Oh, and gifts. I have a few ideas... We're thinking of getting nice frames for parents, and putting something in them like a thank you note or a funny picture - then will give them photos from the day once they're ready. For BMs, I'm thinking jewellery or something they can use - but still thinking. I'm also thinking of presents for ushers, readers, pray-ers, choir etc... and I'm stumped on that!!

My sisters/BMs have sent out email invitations for my hen's thing - just having a low-key picnic in Oct (will be mid-Spring) with family and friends (as far as I know, he he). I'm also inviting a few extras that I couldn't invite to the reception.

  • Ok, just sitting here, looking at my countdown timer...6 weeks and 6 days until November.... Continually excited but for the first time, NERVOUS and maybe thinking ARGH how much left do I need to do in that time?!

How are you all of you ladies doing?
    :rotfl:
  • I actually feel much more in control than I did a few weeks ago! Essentially my big jobs are now are going for my hair trial on Saturday (plus also a last meeting with the photographer and ceremony musician) and having another dress fitting in a couple of weeks, and paying for various things. It still feels like there is something I should be panicking about though...

Aarrrgghhh! Not long now!!! In terms of organisation, I'm feeling pretty chilled - everything is pretty much done, just got to wait for last appointments with venue, hair/makeup lady and photographer. Having the final minor alterations done to my dress this week (a seam has popped and I want to add a way of hooking the train up for the evening). Feeling a bit nervous though, mostly because I've pretty much done all the organising myself so if anything goes wrong/has been forgotten it will be down to me!! I know my fianc! is feeling a bit nervous too, turns out he's worried about standing up in front of everyone during the ceremony and for his speech. He's normally pretty confident so I was quite surprised, but I'm sure he'll be fine on the day!
  • It's hitting me too - one more week and then it's two months for us! Eeek! I was feeling pretty chilled but now am thinking of all the little things that have to be done between now and then. We're getting there...

Sending out invites this week (I had always planned to send them out 2 months before). We've found some lovely dresses for the bridesmaids so now just have to sort out the groomsmen. Need to confirm details for flowers, sort out shoes, decide on menu for reception, finalise music and let everyone know, sort out orders of service and get them printed, choose and ask people to pray, do readings, MC, usher and drive the wedding cars... and sort out decorations for the reception.

Marriage prep is going well and the paperwork has done been done, so that's a relief. Phew.

I'm having my hair trial this Saturday, so I'm pretty excited about that! Should be a lot of fun :)
