  • Hello all!

I am mega-behind on my planning because work has been so busy - we have a huge survey running at the moment so I've not really had much time to think about the wedding!

    So far we have:
    - Booked the venue
    - Made an appointment to give notice (9th January)
    - Secured the caterers

Next step: book some appointments at wedding dress shops, which I think will include a day trip to Tunbridge Wells or Brighton - for some reason I can't seem to find any 'normal' wedding dress shops in London, they're all either mega-expensive designer ones or more alternative. I think I do want a shorter dress though but still want to try on a 'proper' wedding dress just to see what it's like!

The other thing I'm planning to do over the next couple of weeks is to look at photographers, cake makers and florists, book appointments with two or three of each and then go up to see them in January/February.

  • Short dresses are so much fun! I tried one on in M0ns00n... plus saw a fabulous "rock and roll" dress on an episode of don't tell the bride and it was so chic!
Sounds like well ahead of schedule Minerva!!! :D 10 months to go (and a bit ;) )

I know! It's getting to a stage now where it feels really far away and really close at the same time...

How are you getting on with your planning?

This is exactly how I feel! 9 and a bit months to go for me.

Slowly getting more and more organised - my outfit and all of the bridesmaids' outfits are sorted now, just got to get shoes for my flowergirl but will leave that until close to the day as she is going through a bit of a growth spurt!

Main things I need to get sorted this month are cake and entertainment. We have an appointment tonight with a cake lady so hopefully will get that booked in, and then need to start looking for a band. Once that's done, I can relax for a bit as it's only really suits, hair/makeup, invitations and rings that need to be done after that. Oh, and we need to go and give notice, so I'll try and arrange that this month too.

Went to the food tasting at our venue last month, so have picked our menu choices. Just need to confirm this and other details with the venue nearer the time.

How is everyone else getting on?
  • hi all :-)

I'm getting married on the 29th November, the 12th year anniversary of our first kiss :-) awwwwww.

i'm having a mare as we have been holding back doing stuff and changed the venue we wanted due to not being able to book it until july due to football fixtures... now we are in the throws of stress (ie me!) i'm tearing my hair out many places are already booked up! grrrrr.

at this rate it's going to be in our village hall lol!
Don't tell me this nothing...this is my nothing
  • Hi :)
    Hi to fevertell!
Hehe I know what you ladies mean - once we hit the summer it will fly by! In a bit of a lull at the moment, next job is making invites and planning table decs... no rush but nice to get organised :)
Sounds like doing well Bean! How about you Minerva?

  • *waves hello to fevertotell* Welcome to the thread!

I've got quite a few more things done since my last update post:

    - Booked the DJ
    - Booked our photographer: http://www.benjenkinsphoto.co.uk/weddings.php
    - Given notice
    - Booked the registrar in York
    - Asked for a price list from our florist
    - Picked a colour scheme (black, white and red)

I still have to go dress shopping (have now got three or four to look at in London, plus one in Lancashire and one in Warwickshire if needed) and have just emailed the caterer to arrange a date to go up to York and meet them. My mum has also started working up some invitation designs and I have emailed her a cake idea, as she has very kindly offered to make the cake for us.

So at the moment it's reasonably on track. I keep feeling like there's something I'm missing though!

    Helloooo *peeps head in*

I’m getting married in November and despite me thinking I wouldn’t turn in to ‘one of those BTBs’ I think about the plans constantly. Well almost constantly.

I got engaged in October 2013 and we had the venue & registrar booked within a couple of weeks. Not long after that I bought my dress, veil, shoes etc

    Since then we’ve:
    - Booked the flowers
    - Provisionally booked photographer
    - Agreed the guest list
    - Bought the evening invites

This weekend we’re going shopping for men’s suits and bridesmaid dresses this weekend, we have an appointment to give notice in 2 weeks time and we’re fairly decided on ideas for daytime invites, centre pieces, hair/make-up on the day, cake, wedding rings.

I have spreadsheets for everything and I still don’t feel organised enough! I just want the time to fly, like everyone says it will, so I can marry my gorgeous groom and relax!
