Having difficulty putting someone on 'Ignore'

I know the person exists, because they post regularly, but I can't get to put them on my 'ignore' list. I've tried doing it from my profile & from theirs (using the "Add *** to your Ignore List" link), but all I get back is "The user '***' was not found in the database. Please go back and correct this problem. You may want to check out the member list." I've checked the member list, & it still won't work.
Other people seem to have had issues with this over the last couple of months too (something to do with the member name starting with a capital letter), so please can someone advise what to do until this situation is fixed. Is there any chance of it being done in the closedown for the makeover this week? Thanks.

I have the same problem. It's getting desperate! I add the name (it has more than one space in it) and when I try to add it, it says the member can't be found (in the space above it shows the name I typed in, but has inserted '/' in every space... equally the punctuation (more than one apostrophe) could be causing the problem.

Sorry folks, we're aware of this problem and we're working on it. Will hopefully have it fixed in a few days

I don't get the ignore thing. Does it make people disappear? Why would you want to do that? If someone is that bad surely they should be banned? Can't imagine being that irritated by a user on a site this big0

The ignore thing makes it so that you cannot see their posts.
Trust me, we have a few trolls here and, rather than be tempted to feed them, I would prefer just not to see what they have posted.A friend is someone who overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden.0 -
Same here. I'm tired of the onus being on me to resist writing a reply, no matter how much they deserve it.
The 'ignore' facility is there for a reason, so we should all be able to use it. I'm glad to see the problems are being looked into at last.

Hi folks,
Sorry this has been delayed but I've only got 2 developers and as it's summertime, they want to go on holiday. The cheek!
Anyway, we know you want it fixed and we're working towards it but I have a few projects with higher priority to go before we get there. Please bear with us and I'll update when you when we're ready to go.
