at the moment this one is looking like a possible buy.
    http://www.tesco.com/direct/acer-iconia-7-b1-a71-8gb-android-412-blue/379-5990.prd

The decision is yours but its only a reasonable buy at £79 IMHO... not at £99

But good news the cashback offer is from Acer direct so you can still get it even if you buy from Tesco, check out the terms and conditions here..

    and here

    https://acercashback.com/uk/en/pages/cashback/qualifying

only if bought by the 30th June though..!

narrowed it down to either an acer iconia or a samsung galaxy tab 2.
but my OH has a large collection of cd's and dvd's.
can these be put onto the tablet using the correct softwear?

Select tablet which support IOS or android operating system, since there are numerous apps available. A iPad or Samsung are currently good choices to consider. Cheaper tablets intend to be less fluid and have interface similar to a navigation system. :money:

That is just someone building up their post number by posting any old nonsense, you need a certain number of posts before you can post links to websites on here... usually its the sign of a budding spammer in preparation, but not always of course.

Yes, plenty of free software on the web to do this, personally I 'rip' my albums to MP3 format and keep in suitably named folders. You will be able to do this on your PC and then just copy onto your tablet. Android devices do not restrict you from doing this like Apple does.

Also be aware that whilst the Samsung is a nicer device in some ways, it doesn't have a slot to take a memory card, what memory it comes with inside is what your stuck with. If you envisage carrying a few movies and a good size album collection it may not fit.

The Acer does have a card slot so if space runs out you can bung a £10 SD card in to double it or more.

Personally I would never buy a device without a card slot unless I knew my usage would be limited.

I don't mind devices without memory card slots as much as sillygoose does - I figure there aren't that many occasions when I'm going to need all my DVD's with me without access to a computer to transfer the ones I do want, or otherwise use a cloud service. Horses for courses, there is no single right answer ;-)

I been using this forum since 2012, therefore where did you get the idea of me being a 'spammer in the making'. I usually intent to post in two section of this forum, so hardly a spammer. The operating system is what determines whether a device is worth spending money on. Why do you think apple and Samsung are successful? because they have the right operating system which support vast level of resources. If the owner of the thread wants a quality product then follow on from what I have said previously. But if I am wrong then pick up a cheap YeahPad or Hipad from ebay.

I think you will find the galaxy tab 2 does take a sd card.
