Hi,
Sweetcareer,
The wedding sampler is really pretty, but the satin border on your linen is very fine,
I've wondered about one of the magnifiers, are they easy to use?which one have you got?one that goes round your neck or a free standing one, because i am finding my variable specs are not helping and i am now sewing without them......not good!
In fact have any of you clever ladies used them?
Happy stitching x0 -
sweetcarer your wedding sampler is lovely Hope it was appreciated. Love your finished sampler. There's an article in the latest XS collection about samplers which features an Autumn sampler by Helen Philips. Wonder if it's the one you're doing
Hope you feel better soon
mrsceejayi use a magnifier attached to my sewing lamp. I couldn't stitch on the fine fabrics I love without it. Some of my friends have the combined lamp and magnifier and they are really good as well. Perhaps Santa could bring one for you?. When I'm stitching a larger deign I also like to photocopy the chart in a bigger size usually from A4 to A3 and mark off as I stitch

Hi,
Flowerofscotland
I do that as well, sometimes it's the only way as some of the charts are quite big and trying to fold them puts creases in where you don't want them.
Thanks for info, will go into Nottingham and have a look at the lamps and attachements.x0 -
Hi everyone,
Lovely pics sweetcarer
Re: lamps - I have this one:

which I bought at a show for a 'special' price. It's great and means I don't have to wear reading glasses to focus on my work and the light is very bright, and just where it's needed.
Going to do some more flower shop in a bit - using my lamp of course!

That looks good - how much are the bulbs for it?
I was thinking about asking Santa for a lamp - the budget was more around the £50 mark though:rotfl:

Louise - the card collection you have stitched is fab. :T I always have the best of intentions to build up a nice little card stash but it never seems to happen....
I recognise a Michael Powell design - do you know what mag that was from?
I have tonnnns of cards in my stash now (well over 100)- I will take a pic next time I'm in the box. Not all cross stitched though, but they are mostly handmade.
I *think* the MP design was WOXS during last winter, there were a few people planning on stitching it. I will see if I have the chart still to check.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Morning everyone. It's a lovely sunny morning here so washing already out on the line
Was hoping to finish the xs on my Shepherd's Bush stocking last night ( I add the beads and charms once I've made it into a stocking) but there were lots and lots of small bits to finish off - a few stitches here then change to a different colour for a few more. So it took ages and there's still a bit more to do tonight after my visitors have left
Hope everyone has a great Sunday preferably with some stitchy time.0 -

If you can get to a show or shop you could try different types eg daylight, led, and halogen
Definitely a great investment for someone who stitches and crafts as much as you:D0
