Lovely framed pieces Ailsb. :T Great progress with new project. I'm using 11ct for Sleeping Beauty and it does grow quite quickly when you settle down with it. Looking forward to seeing next update.

Have decided to give varifocals a go. To be quite honest I can stitch just as easily without the specs as I can with them on as the lens is quite weak but it is great being able to stitch and glance up to see the clock or odd things on tv without having to take the glasses on and off.

    Have a lovely day everyone

BEG - I've been wearing varifocals for about 2 years now and they are great for stitching and watching telly at the same time.

Doubt if I'll get any stitching done today as at work all day and taking my dad out for a carvery tonight.

    Have a good day everyone.

    another dirty mind here:rotfl:

morning all, and here was me thinking you'd all just been exceptionally quiet i hadnt realised youd got a new thread with cake, i bet that all gone now.

chicky, hugs to you and thanks from me for the support and help you give us in this thread, i take it you are not going anywhere. we all need you too much and anyway its nice in here so please stay.

ive got the lurg at the mo (shingles) so wont get to close, but really feel carp, ive got in on my knee of all places so its affecting my hip and leg joints, i fell upstari the other day and took half a toenail off, i thought the pain in my joint was cos i was waling funny to compensate for the toe hurting, then went hairdressers and the dye started stinging and itching. hairresser asked if id changed anything or had any health probs, i mentioned the rash on my knee, which she identified as shingles and told me to go drs for 2nd opinion. yes shingles but as ive had it for about 3 weeks she said its hardly worth going on sick now so to carry on.
at least i know why ive been feeling rubbish and achy now.

on stitchy news tinkerbell is now framed for DD3s 21st birthday next week, and ive finally started the garden bench stitch im hoping to give my step mum for her birthday in august, it is the fiddliest thing i have ever stitched, as well as the bench you have to stitch a little tiny cushion and blanket which you then have to hem and back with lining and add a fringe to the blanket then sew them on to the finished bench as embellishments, the blanket has taken me 2 days and its only 1X2inches big. its a woven pattern so you had to do the first set of half cross stitches following one grid then go over with another grid doing the other half of the cross so that it looks like a proper blanket. Fiddly fiddly.

love the photos that have been posted so far and the ones on the end of the last thread.

Bit off topic, but my mom kept having shingles and her doctor told her that there is a vaccine out that helps you keep from getting shingles again. She got it earlier this year, and so far so good. I don't know what it's called though! Might be something worth researching if you have recurring bouts of it.

    Hope that helps!

i put the stamp in so you can see how small and fiddly this is, ive got a smaller cushion to do then the main picture of a garden bench to sew them on to.

    Evening everyone,

Finally doing some tidying up, anyone want the floral card kit that came with Cross Stitcher issue 267 (picture of the cards here http://crossstitcher.themakingspot.com/magazine). They're not really my style (tempted though I am to put them in the cupboard and think I will sew them one day, I know it won't really happen :rotfl:).

PM if interested - Now taken

I'm on hols in a few weeks and I'm determined to end the cross stitch drought I have been experiencing recently.

I'm undecided what project to take yet, whether it be something I treat myself to (a special holiday kind of project) (not that I need any more stash!) :rotfl:or whether it is a project I already own. (I have plenty of choice!) I'm not intending to take my all singing all dancing cross stitch stand that I own but I did possibly think about my lapframe that Louise recommenced.

Also I'm unsure whether to take a small project (free kit from a magazine size) or whether to take something bigger that I can make a good head start on while I'm away. I think there is going to be quite a bit of opportunity to stitch :T

    Would welcome opinions.

Mrs MP - hope you are not suffering too much with the shingles. My Mum has had them twice, once around her back and midriff and the second time she had them in her head and around onto her face (thankfully missing her eyes). From what I can remember I dont think she was given any medication only told to apply calamine lotion. Things might have changed since then as to was quite a few years ago. Great pics btw and good luck with the tiny fiddly stitch . Looking forward to next updates.

Flat Eric - how about taking something with you from your stash. You never know you might spot something when you are away you can always treat yourself to. :D

Managed a little bit of stitching on SB this afternoon but have had to put it to one side as I have gone really sleepy for some reason. Hopefully I will pick it back up again this evening.

    Take care everyone
